Wether you could choose it during character creation or find it later, I would not care if there existed interesting armors with variety. But with the exception of the female Gith armor, all look terrible. So a mod like the linked Basket Full of Equipment for me is mandatory for playing the game. I like diversity in clothing which the game is utterly lacking.

Let's take the Barbarian armor, of which the male version is the worst nightmare for me. Firstly I would like to have the option to avoid pants. Pants restrict movement. If it is warm, pants are annoying and unnecessary, if it is cold, why do I show a bare breast coupled with thick leather pants? Stupid. If we look for example at American Indians of the good/bad ol West in movies/modern drawings, we see them frequently with a bare heroic breast and leggings (or pants in bad movies) on the legs, a barbarian topos, while in contemporary photos or art such clothes are seldomly shown. E.G. from all the warriors depicted in indigene art of the Little Bighorn battle 1876, no warrior at all is shown with bare breast and leggings, they only wear three combos, full clothes, war shirts with bare legs or just loincloths.

Then why has the male Barbarian armor a kind of three quarter skirt applied, reaching almost to the ground, as a further means to hinder movement? The Barbarian doesn't seem in need of mobility in combat. The female as usual is a bit wiser, her skirt is shorter, nevertheless a bit redundant. If I wear pants, I don't need a skirt or loincloth as addition, if I don't wear pants, the skirt/kilt/loincloth should be a practical piece of cloth (as used in hundreds of cultures during human history) going down to the knees, not further.

Actually I use the Barbarian armor for my caster, it looks like a wild mage outfit, good for a necromancer or shaman.

Long story, short: give us more variation in armor.
