To be clear, I think chests should be fewer in number and more valuable BUT I'd rather for them being mostly valuables and precious materials rather than player equipment.

Of course, the OCCASIONAL weapon or accessory wouldn't be a terrible crime against game balance, but they shouldn't be the norm either.

Also, while I don't particularly mind it for mundane equipment or vendor trash, I stand firmly behind the motto "SAY NO TO RANDOMIZED LOOT" when it comes to magic items.

Don't. JUST. DON'T. Not even in vendor's inventories. Special equipment should be handcrafted and hand-placed by designers, not left to an algorhythm.
