What's better for a Valour Bard, in your opinion?

1. Str of 18 with a Cha of 16.

2. Str of 16 with a Cha of 18.

If it matters, here are the other stats:

Str: 16 or 18
Dex: 14
Con: 14
Int: 8
Wis: 10
Cha: 16 or 18

A high dex bard with a rapier/shield or two short swords probably would've been better mechanically, but I wanted a two handed weapon, so I went high strength instead.

Right now, I've got my bard wielding Sorrow, mostly because I've never actually used it before.

Then again, maybe I can add the plus two to my dex instead, getting three sixteens? That way I could wear Minthara's armor and get an extra point of AC with it, making it not quite as bad as not wearing medium armor.

I personally prefer 18 in charisma, your bard will be more often casting spells than fighting in contact. In case if you want to be combat oriented there are better classes to do it.

PS : Normally to cast a spell you need an instrument in hand for the somatic part and a free hand for the gestural part. Fortunately here without any feat or arcane focus you can cast spells so take advantage of it.

Depends how do you plan to play it ...

As Oboro say ... if you are going to cast spells, then Charisma is your best friend ... on the other hand if you want to play it as a Fighter, wich occasional magical help, i would go for Strength.

This is interesting point ...
Feel free to corect me any musician around, but as far as i know, most (if not all) instruments in game (and i mean tabletop included, even tho i just googled and there is some isntruments that really can be played with one hand) require both hands to play ...

So i somehow cant really imagine how are Bards suppose to cast. O_o

Imo the 8 Intel is a mistake... Drop two points from char and flat line it at 10

P.s on the subject of gear, I'd grab the drow light from the underdark and two longsword or a club and shield
