Fav of all summonable companions so far, but does it always disappear after a long rest? No way to get it back? Or did I hit a glitch with the game? I'd really like to keep Shovel/Basket/Fork as a permanent companion.

That is indeed the word on the street. I was excited for this patch for that very reason when I saw that summons would no longer despawn at long rest. I haven't played it yet, however I have been told that Shovel does still despawn on a long rest currently.

You keep pets you summon as a class ability so a warlock keeps her imp now but shovel is a special case... Looks like there is a quest linked that we can't access yet

Anyway to answer your question yes he disappears

Thanks for the feedback. I guess you both consider Shovel to be male, but I think the voice was done (quite well at that) by a female

Sounds female to me

I’d been mentally referring to Shovel as “he” as well, so it’s good and interesting to see that challenged. I even looked up whether Quasits have genders on the Forgotten Realms wiki which says near the end “Quasits were assigned genders at the whims of whoever their masters were, whether tanar'ri or mortal” so perhaps we’re all right, or all equally wrong!

PS I also think Shovel is great, and wish there were a way to keep him/her/them/it, or at least a satisfying goodbye rather than just silently vanishing.

Was disappointed he disappeared. I did so much to keep him alive!

It's just part of the quest he/ she was a companion of that local wizzard. Funny thing, it's a prfect showcase how to do beast - animal Companions in game you know so it's not just one of those summoning spells

Sadly that was just a by product just lore of side quest a walking book if you will.

I want warlocks to be able to learn the summon quasit spell from the scroll.
So everytime you summon a quasit with your chain pact, you get shovel (just some additional dialogue)

Maybe we could get a talking imp too at one point
