Yeah, I don't quite understand why it works the way it does - it could be a toggle (though not preferable considering the toggles require accessing a sperate tab at the mement - speaking of which, does any one know if sorcerers metamagics are relegated to the passives menu as well, since UI update, or do they still get a dedicated section in the "main view"? If the latter, then making sneak attack such toggable passive would probably be a best solution as well ). It could also be an activable free passive that will add sneak attack on your next valit attack.
I suppose the issue might be that Larian wants players to have clear feedback as to when you trigger the sneak attack, or they don't have a system that would make required checks during an attack roll (if the hit lands - make a check to see if sneak attack can be applied).
