I’ll say here what I think I’ve said in response to a similar thread before, which is that I quite like the - ahem - flavour that food for resting gives the game, so hope it doesn’t get replaced by bland camping supplies (I’d be happy if supply packs were removed) or done away with entirely. But it’s quite reasonable to build up a stash of food in your camp whether you “cheated” to send it there or manually put it there after you’ve had a good day’s scavenging. And given the traveller’s chest is right there in the camp, it’s just make-work to force players to go to the chest, find the supplies they want there, carry them back to the bedrolls and select the food again. Plus it disincentivises (currently) pointless but potentially fun things like selecting specific food/drink for your meal rather than just grabbing what you find first in your chest.
I do have a lot of sympathy with the a argument that, as it stands, food for resting is pretty much pointless already. But I don’t mind the odd pointless mechanism that nevertheless helps bring the world to life, as long as it’s not unreasonably fiddly.
Or perhaps Larian will build on the food mechanic and make it much more meaningful. That’s certainly not a priority for me, but I wouldn’t mind.
