I think it's a stupid idea to make new races and classes, instead of doing quests and game features for pre-existing races and classes.
I'm pretty sure 80% of players will only try this game as a human or drow, warrior or mage or cleric, and for them these updates don't bring any new content.
Interesting considering that there was a rather popular thread about how humans are the most boring race. Also, most pics I've seen are of a fairly wide variety of races, tiefling being quite popular. Also, I've noticed people seemed to like warlocks and sorcerers, and there were a lot of positive barbarian comments I saw with people really enjoying that class as well.
And now bard... I've actually been enjoying bard more than I've ever enjoyed the class in tabletop... Ever. Most of the time, I find bard stupid, but I do think they have made me like it. That's a huge win in my book.
