I just played a halfling female in BG3, and I was pleasantly surprised to see they've made them look way better than before. Still need more faces and especially body types, but much better. My halfling looks way more like what I would expect.

The things that tie in between RoP and BG3 are things like people see LotR stuff and start to think all dwarves should look like LotR dwarves. All halflings like LotR halflings. Elves should act like LotR elves, etc. So part of the point of this thread is to point out the differences.

Although I said BG3 halflings should look more like RoP hobbits, the truth is that D&D halflings still do look different from them. So don't get me wrong. No RoP halflings please.

To be fair, that picture is from a moment in the episode where she had reasons to try to hide the fact of being an elf, and used her hair to do so.
(Not that I'm a huge fanboi, I have my own criticisms, but I don't consider that to be one of them if you know the context of covering her ears. If anything I'd rather say it's just a poor choice of source material to make a poster.)

Agree, that picture could be from GoT, The Witcher or HoD or any other generic fantasy/17th century costume drama. For me, it reinforces the argument (in my head) that the show does not feel or look like Middle Earth.

My practice involves me closing my eyes and hearing the character(s) speak; if they sound as though they could be overheard in a modern pub or on a modern campus, my immersion is damaged.

I read a comment elsewhere that remarked how the actor would have been better off playing a lady of Rohan; I am inclined to agree with their assessment.

I can see that angle. Would be inclined to agree as well, she'd do that role well. Though her character hasn't bothered me too much, as it would seem others. Only moment I've truly frowned was during episode 3, I'm avoiding spoilers, but basically she was beside a guy and in front of a queen regent or whatever, and I didn't find the decisions there to be very logical or believable.

But yeah, she'd pass with flying colors as a sister of Éowyn, standing back to back with swords in hands killing baddies.

House of dragons >>> Rings of power.

I hope that the next episodes will be more engaging. I've seen the 3 firsts episodes this morning and it's way too sloooowww.
After the first episode I was like "ok this is the intro, fine".
After the second "ok still the intro... why not ?".

But after the third I still have the feeling to be in the introduction... Will there be 25 episodes in the first season ?
I hope but I really doubt.

Edit : 8 episodes...
