Since this game is using an existing ruleset we already know what the rules are supposed to be.
For the record, I haven't played 5e tabletop. I came in with an open mind assuming that some things might have to be changed in a video game. After playing I found out there are many things that just don't feel right in BG3. I looked up the 5e rules and found out many of those things that don't feel good in BG3 actually have much better rules in 5th edition. Things like throwing potions, insane jumping height, pumped up Shoving, nonsensical dipping of weapons, help action being OP, unlimited resting... Magic item design and abundance also goes against the spirit of D&D in favor of a mind numbing loot grind.
I'm fully expecting a Core Rules difficulty setting where none of the poor homebrew exists.
