My favourites as Draconic sorcerer (I will never touch wild magic) would be Cloud of Daggers, Grease (black dragon bloodline,) Hold Person, Crown of Madness, and Web or Misty Step.
If I must do damage with this character then I use the cantrips, or on rare occasions Magic Missile. The majority of fights I am better off using control spells and letting the non spellcasters do damage.
I don't concern myself with items too much because all the buffs to damage spells do me no good with my playstyle.
