The only reason they reached for something, was because they did it before, on the same platform, when the barbarian was announced. We'll see if it was just nothing.

It makes no sense however. Why tease at all, during a time where people are sort of expecting to hear something? We are nearing 4 months, patch time, that is. We are expecting a new patch to hit soon.

Again, we'll see. Could be nothing , could be a tomorrow's announcement. Larian's communication was not always direct anyway.

You said it would be 'bad' on Larian's behalf if they don't tell people to stop waiting...

Also - they didn't tease you with anything. They posted a ghost emote with Halloween coming up. It's October - a lot of companies and people do stuff like that. Maybe it means something, maybe it doesn't.

If they post a Christmas tree in December or a turkey in November it doesn't necessarily mean an announcement is coming. It means Thanksgiving and Christmas take place in those months.

When i go and post ghost emojis on the same platform i announced the barbarian practically, around the time people expect an announcement, and Halloween is coming, it's not THAT big of a stretch for people to think that i am hinting at a halloween announcement.

You might not see the connection at all, and thing people are grasping at straws. Who cares if you think it's not bad? You just don't see why it would be. Am i supposed to explain it to you? Will you accept it? No, so it's a waste of time. If you can't see the connection at all, with all the things we know so far, i can't do anything else.

And yes, it could mean nothing. Which means in MY opinion, they should not have teased anything with a ghost emoji, especially after a community manager told us to wait for something(practically),

They aren't leading you on though. They posted a ghost emoji in the month of October. If they do or do not do something they didn't wrong you. They didn't do anything "bad", it is not a reflection on them as a company or on their ability to communicate with their fan base.

Pretty much this. And I say this as one of the few people who straight up told people earlier in this thread to not expect anything from the anniversary. The lesson to learn here is that some of you need to knock down that pedestal that you put Larian on if you somehow took a ghost emoji as any kind of hinting, otherwise you're going to be disappointed no matter what in regards to something at full launch. Lord knows some of us have already learned that lesson.

Though I'm not convinced that there actually is going to be another patch, at this point I'm becoming more convinced that there was one but they've probably scrapped it in favor of in-house testing and putting everyone towards finishing the full game, and are simply buying time until they have a concrete release window to announce that.

Every patch so far broke existing saves and was paired with Panel from Hell showcasing new stuff.

Therefore, there was a warning that existing saves will become unplayable a week before the patch dropped with instructions how to keep your playthrough, and announcement of the PfH. We got neither by this point, so I don’t expect any major patch for the game.

I am also not sure if releasing content on a holiday is a good idea, as people will be preoccupied with the holiday. Maybe we will get SOMETHING, but I think a content drop is unlikely.

Thank you Rag. Yes, I am implying that perhaps ghost emoji was just laying ground for the sale - or maybe something else, similar to Christmas video they did a while back.

If there is something tomorrow, it's not gonna be a patch. It's gonna be an announcement for a PFH, some days, even a week from now. Maybe this whole thing is not going to happen at all, or even later, but IF the ghost emoji means what some people think it meant, it's not gonna be an imminent patch.

Yeah it could be a hint about a halloween sale. Is there a point to such a hint? During the time the devs know we want BG3 news, it is more important to tease or hint anything regarding DOS2? Who would understand it? People will buy something on sale, when you announce it's on sale, or tell them to be ready for coming sale. I mean, i get that they have more projects, but when did they hint a halloween sale in the past? Every year during halloween we have sales, we had them 2 years before, 1 year before. When did they tease about it? Why would they need to? They just announce it.

Who knows, maybe some people are indeed seeing patterns. When the company makes an emoji with a ?, and doesn't say anything else, anyone can assume whatever. Whether or not they become "disappointed? by it, is not the problem, it's no one's business to protect those with expectations(or to simple jab at them because they don't like expectations). The problem is, the emoji is still there, along with a lot of other stuff, at the time we expect to hear something. So maybe there is something there indeed. We will find out tomorrow.

And no, you won't hear an official announcement from a company during a weekend. They don't work weekends.

i think "October" is very sensitive too China and we Taiwan, from the game officers keep quiet, i can smell the manner of Europe to China. and we Taiwan is in fighting trim.

I don't think I'd play the new patch, but I'm amped for news on any mecanical evolution!

I would bet for an announcement later today.
I find it reassuring that the patch schedule is respected. With some luck, we will get patch 9, patch 10 and then the full game. That would place the release somewhere in may-june.

Would you consider a new cup available in Larian's merch store an announcement?
