And since you are interested in languages : I can recommend reading the Beowulf.
Tolkien wrote about that. But - it's been written originally in Old Emglish. Therefore, reading it in in its original language isn't quite recommended, imho, unless you actuall know Old English. I read Tolkien's remarks about it, and that was heavy work indeed !
