These long EA periods of time make me wonder if the business model needs to be revamped? The long EA is essentially saying they can't do the massive job in one shot, which really is fine with me. So then lets formally break it into parts and release them one after another. AD&D used to do that with the adventure modules all the time ... I don't need to have a "save the cosmos" epic ending for every single installment. For example, the D-series started with D1 Descent into the Earth, then went to D2 Shrine of the Kuo-toa, and then D3 Vault of the Drow. Each module was standalone, but the story was continued into each successor. I guess Larian feels they have to compete with the blockbuster BG II, but I don't know, I think I'd be just as happy with a series of smaller adventure modules released as separate-but-linked games. Would that make it harder for NPC scripting? Maybe, but it seems like it would be basically the same as one big game broken into chapters anyways.
