While I really enjoy blowing up the little crew of Zhent traders at the goblin camp after killing the hobgoblin boss (and retaking my sold items) I kinda wish they didn't automatically turn hostile.. even if they're Zhents.

If you've met and aided the other Zhentarim group, it should be possible to persuade (or bribe) the halfling leader to rejoin with the other Zhents. Or to get the other Zhent leader to recall her. If you fail to persuade either her or the other leader, then you have to do a favor for the Zhents. Persuade at least five goblins to go to an isolated spot... where they'll get caught as slaves. Get a gold bonus for persuading the ogre in the goblin camp to come, too.

I like that idea.

I feel like this is an oversight because they're merely business partners, not actual members of the faction. So they should not be hostile, especially after befriending the Zhentarim up north. If anything there should also be a secret phrase similar to what Rugan tells us, to make them stand down or even join us in the fight against the gobos.

Abdirak for example, even though he is in the gobo camp, does not belong to the goblin faction and leaves as soon as fighting starts. So the same should be for the Zhent traders. They should be neutral.
