Thank you guys again for the advice. I managed to open the chest and have been progressing steadily.

I've been getting through the game alright so far. I've taken down all the cult leaders, and I even managed to get a rune circle to the underdark so I don't have to deal with the goblins again. I haven't dealt with Ethel or the burning inn, I think I may do that before the celebration, just because that feels like a good cap to the whole area (which I am still low key annoyed doesn't have a name) and it seems like it would feel better to not have any loose ends.

I do have another question though. Where do I actually find the Nightsong? Is it in the underground outpost somewhere?

The Nightsong quest isn't finished in the EA, there are some arrows that point to the temple past the grymforge, which currently we can only see from afar.

For a long time I thought the longsword in the stone was nightsong and that was disappointing but hay it's a free sword
