There have been a lot of times playing Baldur's Gate 3 where I thought to myself; "the way this battle went, had it been Baldur's Gate, I'd have written off this run already from temple costs alone" .
Add to that the "crumbling to dust" scenarios, and even more of the runs would be finito.

Astarion is meant to be a noble, and independent to a fault. He is tricked into being a vampire. His attempt to drink you is in defiance of his master [long distant domination like Lecroix does]. This goes wrong and he ends up killing you. Astarion portraying a noble sees you as lesser but still cares for you. His apology perfectly demonstrates a refusal to accept guilt but still saying he is sorry on his terms.

Astarion may come of as arrogant because unlike the other companions he does not follow the standard good-evil, or lawful to chaotic alignment- just like the other companions.I am happy with this as i can’t stand the 6 pager weight companions D&D is known for. It’s really well written scene.
I'm sorry, but Astarion has nothing to do with the WoD vampires. He wouldn't survive five minutes with his stupid and irrational behavior.

You cant deny that he would be a model Harpy ...
But yes, quite fast dusted without protection of Eliseum.

I dont really see the similarity with WoD either. O_o
There is no mind control included as far as i know, it seemed to me more like Astarion was only remembering the rules Cazador taught him ... and decided to rebell, just for the sake of it ... or maybe he was just curious if he can even manage to rebell. laugh

I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. frown
Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are! frown

I'm sure that rebelling was part of it, but I do think that it was mainly just that he was hungry and wanted the boost.

Hungry and wanted to try the thing he'd never been allowed, and considerations of those around him were unimportant to him when weighed against his personal wants - fairly classic evil character characterisation.

The PAX East 2020 panel had Astarion's side of the scene, not that any of it will have survived to release. the pertinent clip starts at 34:07

Side note, I hope we still get skill checks against ourselves in the future.

Edit, That's not the clip I was looking for actually, which panel had Astarion biting Shadowheart?
