I will start by saying I do not beleive in perfection. Nothing is ever 100% so I always try to keep that in mind. I know Larian IS a beleiver in perfection from what I've been hearing. Until a couple months ago I never even heard of Larian Studios. Yes I play games, just not every game or even a lot of them I guess. I keep hearing that Larian is well know for their quality product and they want a good product. So when I heard that a company like this was working on one of my fvorite video game franchises I was very excited. Now I am very dissapointed. I know nothing about making games or programing and YES bugs deffinitely ARE going to happen. But some of these are so rediculous that it's just absurd. Espescially after 2 years now? I'll go over a few of my favorites in no particular order.

1: Character creation bug that hits me about 10%-15% of the time where the game will not let me edit my name AND I can not LOwer my Wisdom. I can raise my Wisdom but for some reason I can not lower it in any way other than selecting a different class and or race and clicking the recommended scores option. But even then I still can't get it to lower to where I want it so I can put the points into a score I ally want for that character. The only way I can "fix" this or "get arround" it is to exit the game entirely and restart the whole game. Going back to the main screen and re-trying character creation again doesn't seem to work for some reason. I have to exit and restart the game entirely. Not a HUGE bug but it is pretty irritating especially when it's been 2 years now that the game has been out.

2: Disarming traps? This literally seems like a jake they have programed in intentionally. 90%+ of the time when I click "disarm" on a trap it just goes off. Yes the screen comes up to roll the dice to see if you succeed or not but almost always it doesn't even let me finish picking bonuses to add or click the "roll dice" button. The screen just goes back to the game and the trap goes off. So why is there even an option? This literally feels like a joke. 2 years?

3: Darkvision? Does it really work? I ask because as a player looking at my screen it doesn't matter if I select my Deep Gnome or a Human, the lighting on the screen doesn't change at all. Am I maybe missing a setting I don't know about that will change this? It's nice IF it does actually do something for the character in game like it's supposed to but it would be awesome if I could actually see the game myself. Lighting isn't that great in some parts.

4: Barbarian rage/damage reduction/resistance? It doesn't seem like it's working at all. I rage and still take the same amount of damage. Even if I choose the bear totem. A very key feature of the lass and it doesn't even work?

5: Anyone can use a scroll? Mages can wear armor? Two in one here. My 8 Intelligence barbarian (or any non-class specific spell caster) shouldn't be able to just pick up any scroll and cast it without any problem. Yes caster of the appropriate class can do it "better" with regard to some spells/effects (at least that's what I hear) but I'm a barbarian why can I cast a flaming sphere just as good as your wizard? Also why can wizards/sorcerers/whoever cast spells with ZERO penalty in any way if they are wearing armor? They are "proficient" with wearing it because of their race? Lol. I'm a shield dwarf so I can cast my wizard spells in light and medium armor? That is just so wrong in so many ways. Are there even ANY penalties involved? I don't know of them if there are. I'm a wizard, I should not be wearing armor. I'm "proficient" with it? That has nothing to do with a wizard. Ok this complaint isn't actually a bug so maybe it doesn't belong here?

Larian I applaud you on your desire for greatness and quality. But some of these issues are just plain rediculous and absurd. Especially after TWO years? Yes it is partially my own fault for being so aggrivated because I do keep torturing myself by continually playing this game. So not all blame is going on you. But, TWO years of these issues? Again, I am not a programmer, I don't know how difficult it is to fix these issues. Some seem like they should be though like the character creation name/wisdom lowering bug. Maybe I'm wrong? I've only been playing a couple of months and yes I have had a lot of fun. But I have definitely had a LOT of aggrivation as well. 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 months between patches? A couple hotfixes here and there? With a desire for "perfection" and great quality product, I tend to think updates should be more frequent. What is wrong with a few less fixes in shorter time periods? They eventually get done anyway right? So for example you fix only 5 bugs but in 2 months instead of making us wait 4 months to get 10 bugs? 2 months of 5 fixes and then another 2 months of 5 more fixes = the same result but an actual better result? The numbers are obviously just examples spit out. Again, Two YEARS for some of these? How do you decide what to just say "don't worry about that one this time either. We'll get to it later"?

Larian, please do not take this post as an attack. I do honestly mean it all with constructive critisism. Yes I'm disapointed and even a little angry. Again, also partially my own fault for not just turn the game off and walking away. I'm just TRYING to enjoy it. The Baldur's Gate series is one of my all time favorite, actually I think it's my 2nd. FF7 is my first just because of the materia but that's another story. lol. I do have a follow up question though after bringing this up, what (if anything) does BG3 have to do with BG1 & BG2? Do they tie in at all? Or are you simply using the franchise to make a sale here?
