The spider at the bottom of the catacombs, under one of the four floor tiles. It could kill me in 2 or 3 hits; I was half dead before I could get close enough to even hit it. I didn't have a bow, but did find a Burning Wall spell book in Mardaneus' house (which I remembered after dying a few times). It took awhile since I had to either be running or on the other side of the iron ladder to stay alive, but I finally killed it. I was
very disappointed that it did not drop anything (one of the other rooms had an amulet that I used for the rest of the game, though I was tempted to change it a couple times) and the only reward was a few useless gems. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/memad.gif" alt="" />
