Are minscs arms sprayed with blood in the preview?

Sounds like fighting in baldur's gate, and is the purple light behind a shooting star or mind flayer ship?

Seems like time is passing in the preview too like its going slightly lighter dunno if thats for dramatic effect or to sneak peak day night

I doubt it. The trailer seem to show the moment
when Minsc was unpetrified by wild magic
- I am not familiar with non-game content, but as I understand that would happen sometime before events of BG3.

It is just a sneak peak for a trailer for the Game Awards, so I expect for it to be mostly aimed at widest audience possible - so remind them that BG3 exists, potentially announce release date. An event for "us" will be Panel from Hell.

Honestly, assuming opening will not receive major redesign, an additional prologue before ship abduction would slow things too much IMO. If Larian were to utilize this content in actual game, I could imagine it being part of Origin introduction cinematic - a bit like the ones in D:OS2.

Minsc was freed a couple of years ago from the BG3 story.

Is there a source for this? I assume you are saying Minsc was freed a couple years before the story of BG3 begins?

Even with all my criticism to the game, this unexpectedly brought me a good amount of joy.

Interesting, the woman's call before the spell hits the statue. Combined with the purple meteor and the sounds of fighting. Mind flayers invading BG and a female spell caster reviving Minsc and boo? No way the female is Jaheira?

it is not. it's a wild magic sorcerer and that is her wild magic surge.

I'm still not 100% on board with Minsc being brought back. That being said, pretty cool trailer!

Honestly I'm more interested in seeing the elf (sorry halfelf) than Minsc

It just reminded me of the bowl of goat's milk that old Winthrop used to put outside his door every evening for the dust demons. He said the dust demons could never resist goat's milk, and that they would always drink themselves into a stupor and then be too tired to enter his room..

I'm excited for day/night cycle. Not so much for Minsc, never liked that character.

I think you guys are hyping up a day night cycle for nothing. Night is used there for the dramatic effect.

Thanks @Rag I was trying to find this comic, as someone posted this before and assuming BG3 is true to lore that is what the trailer seems to be refering to (awakening of Minsc from his statue form). For the exact timeline check the link @Alexws posted above

I doudbt that Larian tried to cue that D/N-cycle is coming here. More likely they demonstrated some of lore ties and tragedy which were spread in time. At first we have a creature passing near the statue. That must be the Bhaalspawn Slayer right after the murder of Abdel Adrian (or transformation into the beast). Then there is some bloodshed happening near the statue, it must be what happened a few days later and lead to Baal ressurection. Minsc was still standing there when all that happened. And finally we have that wild magic sourge.
No clue what that violet meteor is, though.

I would say that comics is happening during the night (or at least not in the middle of day) > therefore the video had to aswell.
There is even shadow of something flying, just before that blood splashesh Minsc hands ... so, my gues is that Larian simply recreated this two panels acordingly. smile

You missed the point. Light is moving in the video as if it's timelapse of a few days, not just one night. The sky texture seems unimportant here, because most of the video looks more like theatre decorations than attempt at realistic detailed depiction. Some people have assumed that the timelapse is the cue for D/N-cycle. And there is no murder in the comic. Only last few seconds depict the comic panel.

If anyone got day/night cycle from that teaser, the world has a bridge to sell you.
