So are Minsc and Jahiera both companions? nope. only minsc. I believe you mean "we dont know" ... Its true that Jahiera was not datamined ... yet ... but Chubblot have found her robe wich is equippable by your party members ... and as far as i know (and feel free to corect me this information is 4 ... in few days 5 ... patches old) the only characters we could strip naked, even after killing them to death, was companions (yes that would include Minthara).
I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are!

I think the graphics look great for a crpg. There is massive amount of content, you can't expect it to be polished to same degree as shorter AAA titles.
The one thing I'd love to see is raytraced lighting, specifically global illumination. It'd give the game so much more natural look, which would suit perfectly for DnD.

I would not say that I'm "impressed" but my hype is definitely going up again.
Can't wait to continue the story and to explore the locations we have seen in the trailer. It looks like there's a lot of polish once again, which is great. It also looks like we are going to meet companion(s ?) further in the game, which was something I really expected.
I guess we can definitely forget a proper flying system. It was not one of my biggest expectation but let's be honnest... flying looks wierd in the game and they are selling verticality from day one. In the end it is just about jumping and pushing. It would have been A LOT more interresting tactically and exploration-wise if we could properly fly, spider climb, send ropes to climb (rather than eventually creating towers of crates) and so on.
It is true that many animations are wierd... but to be honnest I personnaly don't care. I'm more concerned about off context VFX and immersion breaking animations (cows should NOT climb ladders!) It is wierd to me that Minsc is going out from a mimic. It is not really an "epic" scene to reveal him in my opinion. But it doesn't really matter.
Hype +++ again. Can't wait for patch 9.

How would a real flying system work in game? Targeting the ground is easy, because there is only ever one point under your cursor, but how do you click the air/ how would you control that otherwise?

It works pretty darn well in Solasta ^.^
A proper flight system would also require a good camera control system, which BG3 is also lacking. Other games that use full 3d spaces have controls that allow you to move, position and to raise and lower your camera viewpoint - this in turn allows you to isolate a position and then slide up and down on the vertical axis with easy precision. It's very straight forward - BG3 is crippled in this respect because it is built on the hacked-apart and re-cobbled game engine that couldn't handle it, and Larian decided not to address this problem when making this brand new game for which they touted unparalleled verticality in their tactics. (BG3 is in fact entirely 2d in its logic - AoEs explode as flat discs that don't affect anything above or below them, even if that thing is right next to the detonation point.)

August, huh? That means we're definitely getting another patch at some point next year.
My only takeaway from this is that Larian better be hoping that they're confident in that August release window. Delay it too far and it'll get eaten alive by FFXVI's PC launch, which is most likely targeting December/January window.

she has been datamined already Her existence ... yes. Im not aware of any indication for "not being a companion" tho.you can have her robe is bc it's something you can get if you play evil path. I would like to ask for your source.
And just for the record, before someone start pointing that out (again) ... yes im aware that you dont have any obligation to provide it ... thats why i ask, not demand. And i believe/hope that just as i understand this... you will understand that if you will not provide any (for whatever reason) the only consequence (for lack of the better word) will be that i shall not thrust your theory.
Seems really ridiculous that i actualy have to say this ... i allways thought things like this are obvious. But lets hope this made my intentions as clear as physicaly possible.--- It is wierd to me that Minsc is going out from a mimic. It is not really an "epic" scene to reveal him in my opinion. Glad to see im not the only one! Mimics are indeed interesting creatures if they decided to swallow so big chunk of meat as Minsc whole rather than chew him properly ... and he certainly is an interesting guy since he decided to wait inside til someone come to admire his heroic escape. Yeah it very weird.

I honestly thought the Minsc reveal was cool. But I am both a) easily impressed and b) an avowed hater of mimics, so seeing one die is very pleasing to me. The tentacled lying bastards.

Well, Rag, it is an interesting perspective! But to be fair, anything makes not much sense, when torn out of context...

Well i allways finded it funny when living enemies are waiting for me in sealed secret rooms. Especialy in games where necromancy exist... But its true that this can be fixed most easily ... When we get close ... play a sounds of fight followed by gulp ... then make the mimic make loud knocking noises as Minsc is trying to get out ... and voila! Sudently he was there just few seconds. an avowed hater of mimics Have you seen that image where whole world is a mimic?

Ok. Nice look at Baldurs Gate. Looks intact.
Now Minsc. Iis he companion and non-origin at one? The line him being captured by Cult suggest some time of rescue, that could get him very well tadpoled, but would he be available as origin? Sound more like rescue quest to me, even potentially in act2.

@ALexws > Allright, never mind ... no longer relevant. So are Minsc and Jahiera both companions? Just seen this on Chubblot twitter: (continue at your own risk)

Could someone know whos German well look at the article and tell us what it said? The english translation on the link image (automatic translation?) said: Swen Vincke told us in an interview that Minsc (and Boo) and Jaheira can be recruited as followers, but they can't be as Origin characters themselves like Elf Astarion can, for example. Chubbots tweet suggest that Minsc won't be an origin, but still will be the companion. However, camp followers tends to refer to non-playable camp members, like Helsin or Scratch, baby Owlbear or Volo.

However, camp followers tends to refer to non-playable camp members, like Helsin or Scratch, baby Owlbear or Volo. This is correct, and it goes on to say that you can also make these characters your enemies and fight against them as additional antagonists. This influences and changes your own game story accordingly. With Jaheira being a full-blooded Harper, that doesn't surprise me. With Minsk I would like to have more news about his background at that time. He wanted to be accepted into the berserker lodge of the Ice Dragons if he successfully accompanied Dynaheir in his "Daschemma". She died but in BG 2 Aerie was his new witch to go on with his Daschemma. No idea if this topic will be taken up again appropriately? Anyway, Minsc will want to kick evil's ass again. Hopefully we can meet Viconia as well, that I would have honestly found better than bringing Minsc back again...

I am very exited for the character reveals and content! Though I thank it was BADLY executed if you KNOW Minsc from BG1 and BG2. Is this Minsc??? Could of been done more interestingly. But thats fine, gonna hook all the millenials genz crowd.
I am still very underwhelmed by the technical stuff. Everything still looks like shiny plastic. Bad janky animations. Still bright colorful HDR lighting everywhere, no hard shadows. Weird jump flight physics. A dragon that looks like as 2010 dragon.
On the flip side, this is a HUGE game hopefully. By huge meaning not in hours of play (the very long turn base combat artificially makes this a huge number ) but by world expanse and content. I on purpose only played the first 10 hours. From my experience of that 10 hours of BG3 = 3 hours of BG2 due to the long cinematic dialogues and TB battles.

It just reminded me of the bowl of goat's milk that old Winthrop used to put outside his door every evening for the dust demons. He said the dust demons could never resist goat's milk, and that they would always drink themselves into a stupor and then be too tired to enter his room..

Though I thank it was BADLY executed if you KNOW Minsc from BG1 and BG2. Is this Minsc??? I think so. My first introduction to Minsc was in BG2 when the dummy smashed out of the game with sheer force when I said I will leave him locked. Smashing out of captivity in rage, if anything, it is very in line with his character. I am still very underwhelmed by the technical stuff. Everything still looks like shiny plastic. Bad janky animations. Still bright colorful HDR lighting everywhere, no hard shadows. Weird jump flight physics. A dragon that looks like as 2010 dragon. With some really heavily rose tinted graphics, I think. Dragon Age looked janky in its time, and it aged horribly. BG3 looks actualy rather impressive, just not quite.... right. Jumping as awkward as it is, still provides level of interactivity one could only wish for in DA (and honestly most other RPGs).
