I always play humans. But in BG3 humas are rally bad (they suck). So add a bouns feat for them during charakter creation. This is also friendly to the awful D&D 5e rule set

There bonus feat is +1 to all stats and they make good druids

Yeah, I would play no human but the variant human. Presently, all characters in the 6e playtest get a bonus feat, humans get two feats, though the feats need to come from the '1st level' feat options. Feats have a character level prerequisite now.

I prefer generally high stats and human + point buy delivers that in spades.

That said, the variant human (+1 to two stats, +1 skill, +1 language and a feat) is so popular, it'll surely be included.

There is a difference between stats and feats

Humans are actually not bad at all, imo. +1 to a stat means you need 1 attribute point less to go from 13 to 14, FOR EACH stat. That means you can have 14 in those attributes, that grant the most skills - CHA, WIS, INT - while still having some good combat capabilities. Humans are more suited for roleplay, not min-maxing.

But almost all other races have better stats.
