Its a shame because many armors look great and are very well designed, everything is just way too bright and shiny everywhere.

Well spotted. Sometimes I have the feeling that the too bright colors, which were extensively criticized in patch 8, might even be experiments regarding the missing day/night cycle (which many wish for, me excluded) or it is just exactly the reason why they don't want to introduce a day/night cycle.
