It takes about 10 minutes me to load a save, I'm using DirectX 11 and I have optimized the game settings. In general the game doesn't run very smoothly for me though, any tips?

Is the game installed on a SSD? How much RAM do you have?

I don't think I've ever seen a loading taking even a full minute, let alone 10.

Party control in Baldur's Gate 3 is a complete mess that begs to be addressed. SAY NO TO THE TOILET CHAIN

As Tuco has asked, we will need more information on your PC specs and what type of drive you have it installed on.

Ideally, with all modern games should be loaded onto an m.2 or SATA SSD as the older spinning disc Hard Drives will take a long time to load games.

My BG3 is loaded on a SATA SSD and I am loaded up in about 20seconds (though I haven't put a stop watch on it). If I put BG3 on my m.2 I can imagine it would be a little bit quicker.

I've not tried yet with the latest patches, but I noticed at around patch 6 that I had extremely poor performance using DirectX 11 but much better with Vulkan. I think I'd played using DirectX 11 in an earlier patch and it was fine.

I also was seeing extremely (many minutes) long loading times with patch 6, despite having an SSD. My system at that time was better than the minimum recommended in most respects, but I only had 8GB of RAM. I added more RAM which did improve the loading times, but not the performance with DirectX 11. May not be relevant to your system but thought I'd mention just in case.

(My only theory about the DirectX 11 problem with my system so far is that it was something to do with Windows 11, but one of these days I hope I can work it out. It's fine now with BG3 as Vulkan is available, but I was quite enjoying playing Solasta and that became unplayably slow about half way through. I've not seen problems with any other games, but I've not played many recently.)

Forgot I started this thread...
I have two hard drives, both are SSD and 8 GB of installed RAM. I did notice that I have 2 CPU cores, pretty sure I remember a regular pc is supposed to have 4 which is a bit alarming.
Anything else you'd like me to share?

That's probably explanation enough of the poor loading times. I had the same thing until I added more RAM.

The difference in general game performance from adding RAM was less noticeable. As I mentioned in my above post from the summer, I did have awful framerates with DX11 but they were better with Vulkan. I eventually tracked that issue down to some Windows 11 functionality that enabled game streaming and disabling it sorted the problem. Can't recall the exact details, but if you're using Windows 11 and think that may be the problem I'll dig out the details.
