This is the big thing for me personally. And I've found that many players think that buffing wildshapes is some sort of heresy. I just want to feel like my subclass choice matters, but I feel like I'm just a worse land druid because I'm forced to cast spells if I want to have any meaningful impact in combat. All the wildshapes seem to be balanced for level 2/3. I can't believe we may be spending the next 8 months so weak.

I feel the same. Moon druid is great at soaking damage at level 2/3 thanks to the combination of bonus action wild shape, polar bear and lunar mend. Unfortunately as soon as you reach later levels, every wild shapes feel like terrible version of other sub-classes. Sure the PHB moon druid is is a bit busted with its access to multi attacks as soon as level 2, but removing it made the class lag behind everything.
