Yes, agreed that sneak attack damage should be reaction-like rather than a true reaction. Just like divine smite as per the original comment. At least I assume smite isn’t consuming a reaction, though it’s really hard to tell given the current somewhat jumbled handling in EA. I have had the opportunity to smite pop up on an attack of opportunity which should imply that one or the other isn’t being counted as a reaction, but am struggling to work out exactly what is going on.
Well with smite the charges are spell slots not reaction charge itself you can see that reaction charge if you hover over your own portrait.

Sneak attack doesn't have that option of spells charges so it needs to have it's own thing so you can't trigger it mutiple times on your turn. But if you use it on your turn it needs to recharge on the end of that turn so you have it again for any reaction hits.

IF it was only for AoO reactions i guess it's would be fine cos you can only do one anyway so for that it doesn't really matter.
