its true you can decide never to link your Larian account to Gog but once you do and it gets unlinked [by this patch] then the only option the launcher gives you is to relink the account before you can do anything else... there is no ignore

No launcher required. Again, this may not be helpful if you want to play multiplayer, track time or use cross saves (none of which is important to me personally) but for a single player experience, the launcher is entirely optional. I did not notice that bypassing the launcher would make the game less stable.

That being said, I think the main reason early access players should consider using the launcher is to provide feedback to Larian to help improve the game.
