Here's one (unintentional?) house rule in BG3 I would like to keep. Tasha's Cauldron of Everything already has rules for preparing and changing your Cantrips in 5e. Same with the next edition playtest. I like this change to 5e. To me it makes absolutely no sense a Wizard can only learn a handful of Cantrips even though they can learn every single leveled spell in the game. It's a tough choice between combat and utility. You really need the basics such as Mage Hand and Light and at least one attack Cantrip, preferably something for both ranged and melee. That's already a 4th or 5th level Wizard's entire selection of 4 Cantrips, leaving out fun stuff like Minor Image, Friends or sometimes useful defensive stuff like Blade Ward. Cantrips are just fun and don't cause any balance problems so to me this is really a no brainer. I hope they keep learning Cantrips in the game, but potentially add preparation for them like for leveled spells. Even the current way of learning and having all of them prepared is better than how stingy 5e is with 0-level spells. If only you could find the scrolls. Last playthrough Gale only found Chilling Touch to add to his selection. He should really have Shocking Grasp to begin with since he's using it in loadscreen art.
