I tend to play underdog races (Drow for instance), and if Shadar Kai (my icon) were available I would play that as well. As for style I often do moderate good deeds, balanced with a few selfish deeds to show flaws in the character I am portraying. Kind of the anti hero in some instances. True evil toons don't fit how I end up playing... but Lawful good (aka paladins) I could not play either as they tend toward self righteous and rigid inflexible thought patterns that I can not personally replicate in my mind (as I find that thought process equally abhorrent as evil). If I had to put an alignment on my characters they would range from True Neutral, to Neutral good, Chaotic good, and Chaotic Neutral. The only "lawful toons I can play are Lawful Neutral for Monk class, but I find that challenging to roll play, as I think one should be able to play a Monk that is not lawful (but also not truly chaotic), in this I speak from some experience having trained martial arts for the last 30 years, and I defiantly don't fit a "lawful" alignment in personal characteristics.
