Loving the game so far.

However, the classic interpretation of sneaking in D&D involves the amount of noise made. Not just if one is within a cone of vision from another creature during the attempt. Four paladins wearing medium and heavy armor should not have a very high likihood of sneaking up behind anyone due to the noise they are making. I think adding a mechanic based on distance and sneaking proficiency, independant of being in line of sight, should be added.

Yeah, enemy units seem completely deaf, and lack any real peripheral vision. We're not sure what the developer team is thinking with regard to stealth, they haven't said a word concerning it. Maybe they'll rework it, maybe not. At present, I just don't use it, the system is beyond broken. The only rationale I can come to is that it is intentionally broken. Meaning, it's a difficulty release valve, so the player can cheese the system when they're having too much trouble with an area. It's literally an "I win" button presently.

There's been some recent discussion of sneak oddities along with other squiffy game mechanics over at the threads:

Sneak has been a bone of contention for a long time, and there have been various flareups about the topic on this forum, and no doubt on other platforms, but as Ignatius says we haven't seen any announcement from Larian that they're planning to overhaul the system for the full release. Still, I live in hope.

Off topic, sorry, but that made me think of Barcus Wroot saying "But, I still have hope", which melts my heart every time 😭

That's also the attitude I try to keep. Trying not to fall into cynicism/pessimism. It's not always easy, but Barcus Wroot helps 😄
