hi, went through patch 9 and i gotta say - Larian thank you for reaction system! it is pretty good(but there are some flaws still)
now, to my topic. i think that the best way to know when your gameplay is somewhat smooth is when your player feels comfortable with the controls and the controls itself feel intuitive. also, i think that controls feel more intuitive when you do less unnecessary clicks. here's the list:
1. Dash - why you need to double click it? you can do it only on yourself. my idea for release - you click "dash" and then just move away without another click 2. Disengage - same as dash action. it would be better if we could disengage and move instantly 3. Spirit guardians-type spells(when you can cast it only on yourself, but you click twice for some reason) - that is most annoying. it reaaly slowes battles because you make unnecessary clicks every round 4. Jump - jump should be automatic. at least during exploration. it breaks the flow of exploring a lot, when you expiriencing this "oh i need to jump over the bridge. i click jump, i click the direction and after 0.5 seconds the animation starts" things 5. Sneak attack(current implementation actually breaks some mechanics) - why i can't sneak attack using fire arrow for example? oh, i explain why - sneak attack is not a passive "when condition is met" bonus to attack, it is like a spell. and it breaks a lot of things because of that. how spells like "booming blade" or "greenflame blade" will work if you can't sneak attack with them(assuming that they will be added)? it is the bread and butter for arcane tricksters. Larian please fix that 6. Ilithid checks - there is no point to go throught check UI, when you use ilithid power, because the difficulty is always 0(or -1)
It sounds like minor things, but it isn't. with these fixes the game will be way smoother than it is now without the unnecessary slowness

Yes, the UI interactions can and must be improved. For me it was always a mystery why I should click twice for actions without alternatives. 1. Agree 2. Agree 3. I haven't tried them myself but if it is working as described then also agree 4. Agree in general with automatic jump during the exploration mode, but it has a downside. There are secrets that require finding out a jumping route. How to deal with a click on the destination? The whole idea of a puzzle then will be gone. Also there are mushroom illusions on, which you can jump and fall. How to deal with them? 5. Agree 6. Technically you can fail on a natural 1, but I didn't check how they implemented that because it never happened for me.

+1 1. Dash - why you need to double click it? you can do it only on yourself. my idea for release - you click "dash" and then just move away without another click In addition, it'd be nice if the action-cost could be refunded/overwritten if you choose another action before actually using movement that dash gives you. E.g., > I have 10 feet of normal movement left, out of 30. > I click "Dash," using my action, because I plan to move 40 more feet. > I move 8 feet, then realize I actually want to do something else with my action. > Since I haven't yet used any of my Dash Movement, I simply click whatever action I want (or maybe "unclick" Dash), and that action happens while my extra 30 feet of movement from Dash is removed. This would preserve the Confirmation Click nature of the current Dash double-click, but with less clicks. It's not hugely important, and there's a lot that I'd want Larian to implement before this, but it'd be nice.

6. Technically you can fail on a natural 1, but I didn't check how they implemented that because it never happened for me. I have had this happen before. Actually had it happen twice in a row trying to open SH's pod on the ship. First with my PC then with La'zel. From my understanding, even though it says 1 on the screen it actually gives you a -5 as a critical failure.

Maybe it's some kind of protection against misclicks? Anyway, sometimes it happens to me that I want to move potions or the rogue illlithid skill in the bar, but instead accidentally activate... Sneak Attack should finally be a passive so you can use it with ammunition and throwing weapons! Illithid checks by difficulty 0 in dialogues unnecessarily slow down the dialogue flow and should really be abolished. I mean don't call it illithid power if it fails...

Less clicks is indeed better, MUCH BETTER...unless it's rolling stats for your character then MOAR clicks is MOAR fun lol.
Allow me to add my personal pet peeve to the list:
HEX, 1st level Warlock spell. Cursing most ability scores have in reality no or very little effect, while cursing Strength is situationally useful on account of how powerful Shove is in the game. Streamline the ability curse to automatically apply disadvantage on all abilities, Hex is a bonus action that you reapply almost every round as a Warlock already. Save us the time from wasting time on a mechanically mostly insignificant choice while also removing 'trap choices' that has no effect at all.

Disagree ... Im glad we have to confirm our decisions by "casting them on oureselves" ... last time i accidentaly clicked on rogue Illithid power and it activated imediately (maybe i also accidentaly double clicked, but i dont have that feeling) ... it was frustrating. :-/
Less clicks is better in general ... but in this case, its worth to tap your mouse twice.
I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are!

it would rather make you think before your action is made. confirming "disengage", for example, is much rarer case, so it just wastes your time

Agreed! Less clicks needed.

I don't see the point of having to click twice. I mean if you make a miss-click, yes there is a consequence. The consequence helps you make fewer mistakes, so they're not as bad as they may seem at the time.

In general I agree, though there may be the odd exception.
But making so many actions more painful to use for the sake of avoiding misusing them occasionally seems to represent a net increase in pain. Generally if I do the wrong thing by accident I can recover from it anyway, and it's not going to make a difference to the overall outcome of the fight. And if it does and I needed to reload, then I think I'd rather do that occasionally than have to double-click every time.
And frankly, it's not usually in picking an action like Dash that I mess up, but where I Dash to, and I don't get a second chance there. Not that I'm asking for one!

Confirmation would be such a pain, if one didn’t have to wait for animations to play out.it’s far too easy to give commands quicker than the game can handle.

Good point - you could easily save the time it takes you to click twice to dash by not having such a slow, OTT animation. Plus even more time by not having to wait for enemies when they dash. Larian should definitely revisit the way they’ve animated thing like Dash and Jump, which can make combat feel really sluggish to no purpose. I mean, yes give me a fancy animation for turning into a giant wolf (I do think the wild shape animation is done well), but not just for walking or running a bit further.

6. Ilithid checks - I look at this question from the perspective of the subsequent game plot.
There will indeed be stronger ones, for example, the three sons of God, they should be given a certain value of resistance to Ilithid checks, so that the plot is reasonable.
Maybe it's just because the enemies we are facing are too weak (Lv1~Lv5)
It is necessary for the enemies of Lv9 ~ Lv 12 to give Ilithid checks considerable resistance, and also encourage players to use more Ilithid power to develop to different endings.

Do you still fail 0 DC illithid wisdom checks if you roll a 1? You used to, but I've not done it for a while so not sure if that has been fixed. In general, and unlike some others, I don't mind critical fails on skill checks but that does seem ridiculous. At least call it DC 2 if you want it to be possible to fail the check! That aside, I do agree that we might find more difficult illithid wisdom checks later in the game, but I also think that the game should make it that we automatically pass any DC 0 checks without rolling. If there's a zero chance of failing then it's just boring time-wasting, whereas it's just counterintuitive that if the check doesn't involve any difficulty that it can be failed!
