its set and forget
your character already has Darkvision (12m) so the only real use for it is to cast on things like the Phase Spider Matriarch to make her unhiden
The Matriarch is "hidden"? I don't recall ever having a problem seeing her or even the game telling me in any way that she's "hidden"???
