Luckily they dont really need to. Its the same as with Baldur's Gate III. ... yes, there will ALLWAYS (and i mean it litteraly) be someone claiming that this game is not worthy sucessor of that legacy.
The question is: Since its impossible ... was it even a goal? Or would studio and producers be perfectly fine with good game, that will have good sales, and will entertain lots of fans of original game(s)?
I think its certainly possible ... when i look at other series ...
