I don't think anyone is going to think developing high quality DLC will be trivial, but compared to having to build the engine and implement the base classes, items, spells, etc, it would surely be much, much faster, with a consequent prospect of a decent return on investment even if sales of DLC are lower than the original game. Though every 6-12 months for a major DLC for maybe even five years, along with potentially smaller interim releases adding things like new items, spells and even classes and/or subclasses (if they don't require new voiced dialogue) would be fine by me!

Whether that's feasible, I guess depends on how much of their existing team Larian keep on developing BG3 content as opposed to moving onto their next product. But fingers crossed they'll both want to keep developing the game and can see a business case for it.
