Hi everyone,

Sometimes I wish I can just disconnect and reconnect to the internet and vote. After all, I do have dynamic ip but it's not that simple. I use a dial-up connection so it can take 5-10 minutes to reconnect to the internet with my service provider because I encounter busy signals or "no dial tone" message. Sometimes even longer. Oh well. I vote up to 4 times at most every day with 10's. Hope this adds up in the long run though. Just a thought.

Thanks.

--------------
Don't worry, Lockmar - I don't even have to pay extra for logging in, it's included in my contract - and if I have a new IP = 14 sec. - if this IP was already used or my Provider decides to slow down = 30 sec.
Kiya

Every vote counts - thank you all the others for your support - this helps me psychologically

Lockmar, try this to fix "No dial tone":
(If you're using Win XP)
Start -> Settings -> Control Pannel -> Phone and Modem Options ->
'Modem' tab -> double click on your modem -> 'Modem' tab -> 'Disable Wait for Dial Tone Before Dialing'.

Spick, I don't believe in wars, I believe in lessons - let's see, if these downvoters get the message - and it's worthwhile my time

Hello again...Thanks DEATHATTHEDOOR,

Anyone have any advice for persistent busy signals or is that due to my service provider or some other factor? Any ideas on getting less busy signals? Other questions. Are these consistently the exact hours when "battle" starts? When people start voting Riftrunner down? I think Kiya said it starts at nightime right when people are sleeping...By the way, it is...12:23 past midnight where I am right now as I write this message...I wonder what time it is elsewhere.

Thanks.

Take Rincewind's alert post, Lockmar and subtract one hr = that's the time it started. And what is it over there, where you live?
Kiya

#64130 = that's my post, it started a few minutes later ( a minor one and then see-sawed as Rince wrote). So, it was about 3.00 am over here. This was the time where most attacks started.

It's probably your provider but now i think it should work better with the function disabled.

Spick, you're far younger than I am, don't rely on virtues of your ancestors, rely on your own - it wasn't a "we", it was your ancestors - you're 38, IIRC.
Kiya <-- Lynn's sign for peace

*mod* and if you wish to discuss the war topic (WW, Falkland, Afghanistan, Irak etc) = chat section maybe? I'll gladly follow your invitation to a debate then *mod*

To motivate people to vote I will tell a little tale.

As a young man I often bought P-magazine(think Maxim ), and in one of those issues was a 2 or 3 page interview with Lar. after that interview I went out and bought the game.

Now the moral of the story is: CD&V didn't do larian justice by not promoting of the game that the good people of larian had to do this. Let this not happen again. They need theire time to have ˛ ready on time.

I beleive this is a typo, or did you meant it like that???? In case you've forgotten cd&v is a political partie.
