I get not wanting to think about something all the time, I really do. However, D&D always had the makings of a "woke" game.

In this case, the potential sources and consequences of racism are dialed up by 10. It's doomed to focus on issues in society. You can't /make/ D&D "woke"... It always was. You can make a game that handwaves and understates a lot, sure. But, conceptually I think it's rather clear that D&D was always left leaning /if/ you define "wokeism" by paying attention to struggles and variety.

If you make a game where not everyone is best friends and the population incredibly varied... then focus on showing that, you're... "woke". Possibly, everyone living in harmony and not paying any attention to skill colour/sexuality/gender... That is. Err. A possible "woke utopia". You can't have a varied world and not be "woke" in some way. It's functionally impossible.
