Multi-classing is hardly OP in 5E; stat increase, extra attack and higher spell selection are all tied to class level, meaning single-classed get powerful stuff sooner.
Sure, you've got the Cha class synergies (warlock/sorcerer/paladin), but even then it's not really more powerful, just breadth of power.
There'll always be some little niche trick that multiclassing can pull off well, but seriously does it compete with the raw power of fireball or hasted extra attack?
Nah, the big appeal of multi-classing is to get something closer to your unique character, or to better reflect actual improvement during play. For all these reasons, I really hope they do release it during EA.
