OK, Tested that just now, playing as Druid.
Recativated the rune as cat, got shot once and lost cat form but it seems they do not shoot at transformed druids (and prolly animals). I ran around in spiderform, no shooting.
Leaving wildshape they stated firing. Key of the Ancients was eqiupped the whole time. No change.
Cannot confirm for small folk.
