You change race and you look smaller or bigger depanding on what you pick and what you were before... like i said wonky spell.
Yes, you can look smaller or larger (by only a foot RAW, I think, so gnomes would be tricky for the taller races). But given it’s an illusion spell my understanding is you’re not actually a different size than normal. Which I guess could lead to some comedic effects in tight spaces
