Like GM4Him, I feel like a need to bring this up : I've recently repeated the Nautiloid part of the game (to test some things) a good number of times, and I must say : almost every time I attacked the imps, I would successfully pass a Stealth check. Mind you, I was in plain sight and not hiding 😬
