remains in Number 1 spot.
Rating 7,63
1227 votes.

That is only 6 votes cast in just over two hours; 43 votes in total for the past eight hours. No drastic swings, no massive down- and compensating up-voting. In terms of credibility, I think we look much better.

Any controls -- and Kiya's suggestions are all reasonable ones -- that help maintain today's sanity would be welcome imo.

Listen up my friends.
I am a very rational man who shall not deny having sincere emotions too.
Kiya and Lockmar sent E-mails to whoever did not respond because deep inside “the complaints and suggestions” the credibility of the voting is being questioned. If the credibility of the voting is questionable then the whole value of that site is questionable too.

Now let us rationally analyse what a moderator can and cannot do when faced by this dilemma.
Jeopardizing the credibility is a big NO-NO.
Resetting all votes jeopardizes the credibility.
Setting new rules for voting to obtain legitimate and authentic votes, demand resetting the votes because the old votes may not fit into the new system and the old votes make the new ones meaningless.

The only way to moderate votes without jeopardizing the credibility of that site is to detect and delete the bughouse votes that may be identified by ping-routing the dynamic IP addresses to the same source and being sequentially in a stack.

Therefore the moderators are doing their best to keep the votes clean but that is not enough.

We are being down-voted by Speed-Ballers, and they do have a tough and rough game.
What they are missing is that they are messing with a pack of Divine Fighters who are relentless Worriers, mages and survivors who can play a 100 hours game tirelessly.

My conclusion was and still is that it was an act of war.
I am sure that we are all UP TO THE JOB.

So let us kick some A. S. S. E. S.

I, being a Fiendish Game Strategist, suggest that we organise a bidirectional metabolic war.
A voting session is composed of down-voting SB to 1 and Up-Voting to 10.
This should keep the b.a.s.t.a.r.d.s busy up-voting their game too rather than focus on down-voting us only.

Each Dynamic ISP fan should report to kiya via PM the Greenwich time-interval in which that fan uses his computer on line around the seven days of the week to give her a rough idea about our elite force.

The troupers of my calibre should vote whenever they can without any necessary organisation.

Kiya should post publicly or by PM a schedule of our planned attack and defence tactics.

So let us send them to hell, and pull our to victory.

Take your time.
The countdown begins.
Let us say two days from now to the zero-time-trigger.

Another tactic would be a simultaneous shuffle by starting a dated thread under forum General.
The first thread should be “Voting War”.
Every fighter-trooper should report voting on that thread immediately after voting successfully and reports the status.
This allows others to know if another voting-fighter has interleaved his previous vote or not.
The Elite forces of dynamic ISP should make dated threads each for a day and the first post should include a jumping URL to vote such as the one Jurak posted.
Let us call those threads “Vote _ Elite DISP _ mm-dd”

This tactic is even better to take the burden of scheduling off Kiya.

Two days no more,
two days for war.
Speedy ball gore
is no match for rift
if you catch my drift
the ball must sink
and rift must soar.

Hi Dad,

I think the effort to downvote other games is unnecesary. In fact, I believe this whole voting process would be much simpler if we all joined together in a focused effort on raising and maintaining Riftrunner's rating. It is both the best "defense" and the best "offense". I don't think you liked it when they downvoted your game and they wouldn't either. Their attempts to downvote our game can easily be neutralized if we all focus on keeping Riftrunner's rating up. There's no need to add downvoting to the picture when it comes to supporting Riftrunner. My suggestion is to keep track of the times when downvoting is directed at our game and seek to be ready when those times come with a sufficient number of people to vote Riftrunner up. If I am correct, those times still have not changed that much. "Downvoting" attacks directed at Riftrunner still seem most prevalent at around 3:00am to 5:00 am in Germany. That is the time to be ready. Downvoting is to me unnecesary and it might make the fans of Riftrunner look bad. It may be a short term solution but my feeling that it will create resentment in the hearts of others still stands. Over the long run, the reputation of Riftrunner is going to be a sore one. The people who bring other games down aren't too concerned about their own rating. If their game ends up dropping out of the top ten because of our efforts, they may very well just decide to forget about voting up their own games and just take the effort to downvote Riftrunner. This is the potential danger of using downvoting as a weapon. No longer is it used in an honest manner. Rather, downvoting may very well be wielded and used to express anger and as a means of just lashing out at others. What are we going to do then? I wouldn't just downvote any game that's in second place. How do we really know that it is Speedball? If I recall correctly, Riftrunner was being downvoted repeatedly even when it was out of the top ten rating and that was before Speedball entered the picture. Someone else could have been doing the downvoting. It is wrong to just assume that it was Speedball. It could just as well have been another person or another fan of another game. Please. Don't end up hurting the innocent. My idea of visibility was to address this very possibility among others. Visibility is not used to discourage downvoting but rather to encourage its expression when used in an honest manner. "Nothing breeds appropriate behavior faster than exposure to the light of public scrutiny." Visibility, if it discourages anything is deception. The ideas of registration should include this component. I feel the voting environment would improve dramatically if we kept a record of registered screen names and personal profiles at least and kept them visible. Only registered users may vote. While the moderators may feel that they can't implement this suggestion, I feel that this idea or something similar to it will be the only constructive path towards a solution.
Finally, there is another issue for us to consider and that is if we are using our time wisely. It's nice to keep Riftrunner up but is all this effort going to generate a productive return? Finding ways to generate more publicity for Riftrunner seems to be our true goal. I hope that all our efforts in the end will only bring us closer rather than further from this goal if this is our goal.

Thanks.

Lockmar my friend, I do understand your moral motivations quite well and I respect them and even admire them. Nevertheless, down to earth is quite different from clouds of glory and the second return.

Facts:
~*~*~*~
The Larian fans did not start the hostile activity but we were shocked to find that we are being down-voted for no justifiable reason.

We did begin with the ethical and good path and tried to passively keep our rating from falling but it did not work well.

Our Elite warriors volunteered to counter the attacks in a good way and we ended up having more than 5000 votes deleted.
~*~*~*~

You may sing about preserving nature while sitting in front of your computer and in a clean and air-conditioned room; but when you sit on the ground inside a forest and mosquitoes feed on you while swarms of ants cut patiently and relentlessly at you to store you for their winter food you shall begin cursing and yelling “burn them all”.

Ethics are great to start with and morals are wonderful for a peaceful Utopia, but when you suffer the barbaric damages you might rethink and evaluate the truth of your ethics.

Of course we do have the option of forgetting completely about voting and letting those non moral enemies win.
We may choose not to give them a lesson; we may choose to commit suicide and escape from this life altogether most cowardly to preserve our morals and ethics.

Indeed it is a philosophical question of values but it is also a logical integrity issue.
I always vote against contradiction, because I think that my high ethics and my great morals are worth defending.

The choice:
~*~*~*~
We may let those who practice anti-ethical procedures defeat us because we refrain from behaving in an unethical manner defending our ethics (contradiction)
We may practice anti-ethical procedures to defend our ethics (contradiction)
We may choose contradiction OR contradiction for tactics, but we still have strategies to defend here.
If we are forced to contradict ourselves any way on tactics, at least we may defend the major strategies.
Are we Larian fans or not?
It is time to make a decision.
We are either Larian fans or not.
We may not be both or none.
Are we Larian fans or not?
~*~*~*~

Up voting our game is seen as a hostile act by those who wish to keep their game on top.
This is classically called competition.
They realised that they were loosing.
They started to down vote our game because they are using all their power to bring us down while they boost their game up.
Are we going to surrender to their war tactics or fight back?
We can outnumber them and outwit them too.
Shall we?
Please?

As Lockmar stated correctly, this downvoting was from the very start - Speedball wasn't even announced. And I've watched those votes quite some time now - even before I sent my first mail to the site.
If anyone cares to read the whole thread: I've stated stated several times, I'm against downvoting other games in the same style as RR is downvoted by I-don't-know-who. It's against my ethics of fair play. Fair play is no one-way-alley for me, otherwise I'd just be a hypocrite.

I refuse to turn/be turned into a downvoting general, this is final. I will continue to upvote RR, and my decision is only on my behalf.
Kiya

To Jurak: As long as I don't know for sure who is trying to pull out RR's teeth, I won't play dentist - even if I would be 100% sure: I'd rather complain/report to the site than betray my ethics.

This game is rated:
7,61
Total votes: 1258

Dear Kiya, we may complain to the moderators that we are being down voted relentlessly and that we demand some action for protection before we take our own measures. If that site cares about its credibility they should begin thinking right now.
Call it a threat or whatever you wish but I am in war.
If that site’s moderators fail to protect from silly down voting and helping us to stay moral, then it would be their biggest mistake ever and I mean it.

My ethics are based on absolute justice not on double standards.
If my game is going to be down voted again then that whole site is going down too.

A few cool clear values instead of emotions:
Speed had 12 votes since my last jotting down
Prince 49
Armed 20
Halflife 8
the others range from 3-5
----------
Now, who would say it's the Speedball fans? I couldn't.

I'm not a fan of the Old Testament virtues, DAD. I've never liked the tooth-for-tooth policy. My policy was to answer every downvoting attack with a raise of 0.01 afterwards. Using a mace/club/downvoting click may be faster at the beginning - but only lessons help on the long way IMO - even if the pupils are too stubborn to learn . I do not wish to change your way of thinking/your measures/standards - please, respect mine. We're both stubborn mules, let's graze on different meadows: Thistles for you and juicy herbs for me

What if this attack comes out of other reasons? Thought about that?
Kiya
