As posted befor, here and in other parts of this forum. I belive it is time to fight fire w/fire. Amongst all of us members I bet we as a collective belong to thousands of forums. In those forums we should not only promote our Larians, but also speak of the unfair and unsavory practices gong on at ToTheGame.com..
If enough people know of what is happening, I belive to the game will stop their
unfair practice of removing thousands of votes. Did they do that to Diablo 2 or Warcraft or any of the other wildly popular games, because they saw a major upswing in voting? It goes way beyond Spam!

Mslynx - IMO the unfairness is not removing 1000 of votes but refusing to see that we try to mend damage done by unfair downvoting. As Lockmar already pointed out: downvoting has a stronger impact.

When we were over 7000, I needed 30 votes to undo 0.01 damage. The downvoters needed not even 15. So, it's logical from the gaming site to see ours as spam votes. I wish they would compare the whole voting values done per day to the other games. Then they would see that the attacks and instability of RR (now) is due to downvoting.

This spam alert is then logically triggered by our old policy of dynamic IPs and not by downvoters.

The developer would prefer registered voting also, but they don't have a lot of members.

Quote
: Developer Tomas Skoie:
I'm sorry for late answer, but my intention was to wait with the answer
until I had made up my mind.

I like the suggestion that only registered user may vote. That will stop
the unfair voting one time for all, but unfortunately we don't have
enough members to make activity on the Most Wanted list. But this is
definitely the way to go!

For now I have installed a spam alert. This triggers when a game
suddenly gets unusually many votes. I then manually walk through every
vote to decide if the vote is spam or not.

Yesterday I went through all the votes for Riftrunner, and other games
with irregularly many votes, and I deleted all the spam. This is the
reason why Riftrunner was reduced by almost 5000 votes.

And this is why I would like for all of you voters to try out DAD's suggestion about changing voters.

I don't think DAD's plan is going too well.

Boycott voting

Good idea? or

I agree in a way with Kiya (as far as I understood her), because I don't like this kind of ... spamming.

Voting again and again to push only one game - is this fair ?

I don't think so.

But I must admit that we don't know whether the "other parties" use the same technique or not.

I prefer voting - the technique DAD proposed.

I don't think the site will hand over the voting lists to DAD or any other one. I sent a mail to the site just now explaining voting maths - the way Lockmar did it already. I believe a boycott is destructive and will only be helpful for the downvoters. Even if they were identified, what would happen to them? Nothing.

The downvoters won't give up - we who were voting from the 13th July on have seen this already: RR was downvoted although it had vanished from the charts - it entered on the 1st/2nd Aug. again - and attacked in the same manner.

Meanwhile: I don't believe in competitive fans of the other games, not the majority. It's unlogical to concentrate on downvoting and not even upvoting their own game at the same time IMO. Nope, I believe there's something else. If I add the votes of the other 9 games together, I still don't reach the 595 votes RR has had since the amount was reduced. And as the whole voting scene is a bit turbulent at the moment, I have a strong suspicion there are downvoting votes adding to the vote of Speed and even Prince, hm ?

If anyone is willing to make a poll - I'll succumb to majority without outer protest.

Boycotting voting would be a good way to track down voting. However, this would only be useful if the tothegames site were receptive to such 'proof'. Possibly a good idea to support an argument, but the web site already has all of the raw data, and could get much more accurate values directly.

Perhaps to counter down voting, those with dynamic IPs could vote once a day (then there would be no need to coordinate efforts), possibly at different times during the day (one day in the morning, the next in the afternoon).

Sorry, Raze, that's not enough (voting 1x a day). Since we lost the toto amount (12th Aug., 11.24 pm) we had 595 votes on RR until today 3.25 pm. Regardless of us voting against it or not - if these attacks come, they come in 30 sec. rhythm.

"if these attacks come, they come in 30 sec. rhythm."

The site should (in theory) be willing to delete those votes. Maybe they only notice if people are down voting and up voting at the same time, each trying to stay ahead of the other.

Hmmmmmm, sadly no, they don't. I've watched constant downvoting without interfering - but I'll give this a try: jotting down the time and just watching the attacks from start to end - send these data then via mail to the site. Maybe they'll look into the log file then - thanks for the idea, Raze
