Hello
I was wondering if it is possible to generate an autosave before a dream scene occurs. The reason is that you never know in advance when it will come, and I find the choices at times ambiguous. To the extent that I chose "resist to the violent thoughts" and it did the opposite of what I wanted. The character attacks the dream person. So I should probably have chosen to submit to the violence. But now there's no way back. You see I went to a long rest after the long and arduous battle at the goblin camp and the dream was triggered. And I really didn't want to go through that whole battle again. The strange thing is that it makes an autosave AFTER the long rest, which for me makes little sense. It would make more sense to do it before the rest.
So, I think it would be good if we could go back in these dream scenes.

I thought the dream scenes only occur after you use [Illithid] Dialogue options or Illithid powers? I never got dreams because I refuse to do either, as I'm pretty sure it's the tadpole because the more you use the powers, the more dreams you get, and eventually a "True Soul" you become.

+1 for autosave before dream scenes while resting. I thought the dream scenes only occur after you use [Illithid] Dialogue options or Illithid powers? This may be true, but keep in mind that it is just triggered by LR. So, for example, if he used the Illithid Power one or too many times during the Goblin fights and then rests (you have to do that if you want to fight Minthara in the Druid Grove) et voila dream scene. By the way, I had the same problem, but I didn't use any Illithid Power. The last time I used it was when fighting Auntie Ethel, but only once with my Battelmaster to pull her closer to me to increase the hit chance. However, I mean that after fighting with Auntie Ethel and Kagha, I did one LR before infiltrating the Gobbos. But no dream scene. Anyway, I didn't use any Illithid Power or Illithid Dialogue after Auntie Ethel, but the dream scene was triggered the next LR I did after I purged the Goblin Camp and right before facing Minthara at Druid Grove.

The dream sequence occurs after you long rest twice and in between each you used your Illithid powers at least once.
1. Use Illithid Powers 2. Long rest 1 "Where are you?" 3. Use Illithid powers 4. 1st Full Dream sequence 5. Use Illithid Powers 6. Second full dream sequence

Second full dream sequence No when you use the ilithid power, there's no automatic dream sequence the next long rest. It can take several long rests, using many IP before it triggers. In my current PT I use the power as much as possible, because I'm curious to see how the dreams evolve. I don't care if the player turns into a mind flayer. I'm trying out the palladin and can't really connect to it, so it's ideal for this kind of experiment. So I also wanted to give the dream person maximum access to my mind and avoid all resistance, and it's really annoying that the choices in the 3rd dream were phrased in such a way that I chose the opposite of what I wanted to do. "resist the violent thoughts" and the result was that the player tried to strangle the dream person. Grrr...... And now there's no way back to choose otherwise unless I go through that complete goblin camp battle again.

If it's any consolation, it doesn't practically matter, even if it does for the narrarive

Use Illithid Dialogue Option". You have to use the tadpole wisdom option in dialogue and then LR. Each use will trigger a different dream sequence starting with the vocal only "Where are you?". After you have used the tadpole wisdom option enough times you will get the tadpole class specific abilities. Using those class abilities does NOT cause dreams, it may or may not count toward whatever badness is going to happen eventually but as of yet in EA we don't know.

Again no, this is not my experience. I used the illithid conversation option (which changes name to "absolute" option after a while) on about every possible occasion in the game. In the wilderness, the blighted village, the goblin camp, but also with Gale, Astarion and Lae'zel. I also had many long rests, and there is no automatic dream scene during LR after choosing the illithid tadpole to enter the mind of an oppenent during conversation. It may take several mind probes and LR before a dream triggers.

Do you camp outside? Or indoor/underground?
I don't remember if it does but that may affect it, unfortunately.
I usually always try to camp outside, for good measure (unless I'm trying to avoid the owlbear cub scenes).
Edit : And by doing so, I always manage to trigger the dream scene after using the tadpole power in conversation.

There's likely a hidden point system at play. Every action probably doesn't contribute to it equally, for instance I think drinking the potion Omeluun makes for you gives more points than probing someone's mind during dialogue. There's also a priority scenes play in, you won't get more than one every night, some seem to be overridden entirely, I think Tadpole dreams are low priority, something like Raphael I think overrides everything else.

Perhaps. I've had some major trouble getting Raphael in Patch 9. Maybe everything is below companions now

Yes, if our running commentary on the forum over the past years is anything to go by, with every patch they change the flags, and possibly prioritize certain dialogue they want people to see and test.
