I know I shouldn't expect anything like fagging or corporal punishment, but I would have appreciated a little more Victorian in my boarding school game.
Firstly I have to ask; did you*mean* to say fagging, or is that a typo for flogging? I don't want to google it because I have a feeling it would not reflect well on my search history.
So you don’t have to risk your search history, here’s the Wikipedia page about fagging in boarding schools, which broadly speaking was a practice whereby younger pupils act as personal servants to older ones. It certainly isn’t something I personally would ever want to roleplay on either side of the equation!
EDIT: Sorry for duplication, I see Boblawblah has posted the same link!

"You may call it 'nonsense' if you like, but I've heard nonsense, compared with which that would be as sensible as a dictionary!"
As for keeping it away from established canon...I suppose. But you're still not using the era to it's fullest.
For instance, a little creative anachronism. Magic stands in for technology, so your steampunk in the HP universe might be represented by magic working differently. Just an idea.

Without such overt classism, it might take on different undertones at Hogwarts, but masters and apprentices sound very magic adjunct, and probably not out of place in a 19th Century Hogwarts
Those aren't examples of what most people would consider "controversy". Controversy usually involves something outside of the game that is causing drama around the discussion of the game and usually on a scale large enough that people not really interested in the game have heard about the controversy. Hogwarts and JKR, Atomic Heart and Russia, etc.
I really don’t think a few people griping if the official forums rises to the level of controversy, especially when the reaction to the EA is and has always been overwhelmingly positive.
Conversely, even I know about the heated debates around Hogwart’s Legacy despite having no interest in the game or the Wizarding World in general.
Anyway, I’d love for BG3 to get a GotY nod. If it did that it might convince more studios to pursue this sort of game. That said, competition is going to be fierce this year. 2 new Final Fantasies, a new Legend of Zelda, a new Diablo, Starfield, and whatever else I’m forgetting. So we will see. Apparently both Starfield and Diablo 4 are having some development issues and getting rushed, but those games might get nominated just because of who is making them. That seems to happen a lot.
Diablo 4 is diablo 3 with slight changes. Which is just diablo 2 with changes. I like a good hack and slay, but I hope it doesn't get nominated. The differences to diablo 3 appear /seriously/ minimal. In an ideal world, I feel like this should be disqualifying.

Actually here is slightly controversy with BG3, but I find it misplaced not to blame BG3 or Larian.
However controversary is a double aged sword in my case all this has increased my interest in Hogwarts so I must buy it (and I consider J.K. Rowling a woman hero) but I will wait for really big discount price and in no hurry to show my support. Well not to say it is the only reason. I have admitted before that I liked the first Harry Potter movie very much. You could say this controversy increase my want to buy this game, but is not the only reason I want to buy and play it.
As of funny gaming videos this is a bit to long, but found this slightly funny:
Warning he plays through whole freaking campaign COD Modern Warfare II and if you intend to play it through the campaign then I recommend to not see it since it spoils everything.

I personally have little interest in Diablo 4, but considering it’s pedigree and how well it will likely sell, a GotY nod seems probable unless the game is completely broken at launch.

Silksong! (hopefully 2023 release!)
I will be surprised if BG3 will be nominated for GOTY. RPG, sure, might even win, but I just can’t see it reaching profile required for GOTY unless it ends up looking much better than it did in EA. Mostly really good looking games from high profile studios get nominated for GOTY - or occasional smaller titles, like Hades, that just almost no one can’t help but love (still a good looking one though!)
Well, that's very on brand. I am sorry you feel so threated by certain people.
Not sure how Larian has anything to do with decisions by WOTC to propose changes to the OGL - but no doubt it makes sense to you.
I do not know who you address with this post feel threatened? " Actually here is slightly controversy with BG3, but I find it misplaced not to blame BG3 or Larian:
" When I said misplaced i feel they blame wrongly BG3 or Larrian. Finally I am not content creator myself so this is not the end of the world to me and it is unclear what they decide at the end. That said what I do not like is the One Project DND 5.5 rules or whatever you want to call it. BG3 is DND 5.0 and has absolutely nothing to do with One Project rules.
Now I feel BG3 has slowly step by step taking steps towards more real DND 5.0 Rules and I feel this game has improved from very Early Access. Yes I know it is not perfect and there is still room for a bit improvement, but I am pretty sure I will enjoy this game when released.
Perhaps I missing some point? I do not care if BG3 is named like the best game of the year of 2023. Because that is affected by so many factors like what other games are released in 2023. What I care is about that BG3 is an excellent game and will make us consumers happy. I am not going to debate Diablo IV vs BG3 and DIablo IV is really big project something I might myself play that said comparing them is like apples vs oranges despite both are fantasy gameplay is very different.
Now DOS2 got nominated to very high and excellent reviews and I feel like BG3 could do the same. Regardless how that goes I look forward to enjoy BG3 full game when it is released in August 2023.
Tears of the Kingdom is coming out this year also, and last time a LOZ game was nominated for game of the year it was stacked up against games like nier:autonoma, and won (unfairly, nier really deserved to win). To be quite honest, even with a lot of polish I don't think BG3 has much of a chance at winning unless the first act is the worst and the rest of game improves on it monumentally.

Interesting you named 2 games I do not care about. Tears of Kingdom is a Nintendo game from Asia and I do not play Nintendo games to begin with. Nier Automana seems like a typical Action Asia game with some SCIFI RPG elements single player not interested in it.
I generally do not like Asian games unless they adapt it very much for Western market (but even then trend seems do not like), but now there are a couple of Asia MMO that I follow and one of them Throne of Liberty 3 (aka Lineage 3) with Unreal 5 graphics will be released this year 2023 and release date should be before BG3 full release date. The problem with MMO Throne of Liberty (Lineage 3) is that I am only slightly interested and there are many things unclear they have not even told how much pay to win and will it have subfee etc.
I believe this art is from Lineage II... when this music was posted on youtube then Lineage 2 had found its way to even Europe and USA. Well though clearly majority of players were from South Korea that is true.
Only time will tell if Throne of Liberty MMO aka LIneage 3 will have more success in Western markets. That said at least wise decision to use Unreal 5 engine for Throne of Liberty MMO aka LIneage 3. Well and if you look very closely at the features of face of woman in above video she looks like a beautiful woman from South Korea. I know this game have voluntary PvP, well you van avoid PvP by leaving area that has been set to be PvP area before PvP starts. What I do not like Open world Dungeons and Raids kind of feel they will be farmed by huge numbers of players that reduce PvE challenge.
If talking like modern times year 2020+ gaming then I gave Asian MMO:s Final Fantasy XIV and Genshin Impact a try not saying they are bad games, but they are not my taste or my cup of tea so I did quit playing them. Because you can try them for free. FInal Fantasy XIV is popular and has been said it is the Asian version of World of Warcraft MMO. I was curious why so many women players like Genshin Impact... well one answer to that is Genshin Impact MMO is very cute world though there is danger and your character can die in that game.
Perhaps if Final Fantasy XIV MMO would be totally free game I would play it still but as free player you can not access maximum level or maximum power that is impossible they have level cap for free players that is lower then paying players in FFXIV MMO.
Well what games do I truly will play much? A. Baldurs Gate 3 one time though the campaign. B. Pillars of Eternity 2 one time through campaign. C. Solasta expansion Lost Valley finish that. D. Avowed release towards end of 2024... huge game but single player play through it, E. Hogwarts Legacy of course to show my support for this and WOMAN HERO J. K Rowling. but I wait until I can get big discount to buy this. If you want to know the reason for this you need to send a personal message to me because on forums forbidden to discuss such things. F. Eventually far in the future even long time after Avowed this is a game release date could be 2025-2030 the new Dungeons Dragons MMO with Unreal 5 graphics. This game has not even a name yet but I know it is high budget and developed in USA.
Well then there are a swarm of maybe play among them Diablo IV, Witcher 4 (the name might not be Witcher 4 but next Witcher) and Throne of Liberty aka Lineage 3 MMO.
This is my top favorite games, from time to time I go back and do another playthrough, I feel BG3 has the potential to end up in my top 3, will see how things go in August. 1. Witcher 3 2. AC: Odyssey 3. Red Dead Redemption 2 4. AC: Origins 5. Cyberpunk 6. BG2 7. Dragons Age 2
Well a list of best games played in my subjective taste? I can not give verdict to Pillars of Eternity 2 because I have played it so little. I will also not list game in early access so BG3 is not listed. I will not list games not yet played. I said that will buy Hogwarts Legacy later when there is much discount.
1. World of Warcraft MMO. 2. BG1 and BG2. 3. Neverwinter Nights 1 (second was ok but not as good). 4. Neverwinter Online MMO. 5. Pathfinder games. 6. Solasta in multiplayer did become one of the best and they have also improved graphics so characters look more decent and ok. 7. Pillars of Eternity 1... (2 have played it so little hard to evaluate still) 8. Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice 9. Age of Conan MMO. 10. Witcher 3.
I played on Alliance side and the first time I visited Human capitol and one of the biggest Alliance cities I was blown away by it and its music reminded me of glory of Paladins:
Example at 4.15 in this video sounds like Paladins would sing.
Best WOW Elf song I have heard is this:
Nightsong was released later with Cataclysm expansion and I was still playing then. Cataclysm was the last good expansion of WOW before silly Panda expansion was released and I quit WOW MMO. Nightsong changes at 1.20 to more combat like music.
Well and it originally started with this first trailer:
When I started playing WOW MMO Burning Crusade the first expansion was highest but already released... so I I experienced a time when Burning Crusade newest expansion, after that greatest expansion Wrath of the Lich King then WOW MMO reached peak over 12 million active players. Well after that Cataclysm expansion still good to me. World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria was released 2012 and I quit very fast after this silly expansion was released. First WOW expansion Burning Crusade was about Demons. Second WOW expansion Wrath of the Lich King was about undeads. Cataclysm third expansion was about nature force Volcanoes, earthquakes, Dragons and cool races again example Werewolf race.... and had best Elven WOW music I have heard its name Nightsong.
Well then come Mists of Pandaria expansion in year 2012 and to my horror they make theme silly cute Pandas a playable race. Well so to my horror I see cute Pandas running here and there and nothing cool with this expansion Mists of Pandaria and I quit really soon after its release.
No checked started playing WOW after Age of Conan MMO release so that was in 2008.
Well and yes I tried to rank them in order WOW MMO, was the best experience to me, but eventually I quit WOW MMO after roughly 4 years playing. I did one point take 6 months break so if break included then roughly 4.5 years.
