broadly speaking was a practice whereby younger pupils act as personal servants to older ones. It certainly isn’t something I personally would ever want to roleplay on either side of the equation!
Without such overt classism, it might take on different undertones at Hogwarts, but masters and apprentices sound very magic adjunct, and probably not out of place in a 19th Century Hogwarts
