Explain:
Weapon Sets: remove the restriction of melee or range type. Equip whichever you want in either weapon set.
Personal Belonging: items placed here are the personal belonging for each party member. May it be a pile of gold pieces, a bottle of water, a scroll to read, or a piece of heavy stone, when click "Throw", only display items from this section and the equipment slots(such as a javelin from Weapon Set slots or your boots from the Boots slot).
Party Shared Baggage Train: here to put the loots and other stuffs you acquired from the adventure. Make sure this section not to be accessed during battle(so the composition of the party can have more impact when fighting different enemies) or when "Throw" was clicked(so the selection of available items don't get overwhelming).
Weight: logically, the weight that would slow your character in battle is the weight that your character actually carried on them during the battle. The rest of the weight your character probably would have them hold in some kind of backpack or baggage that will be dropped aside during the combat.
I think it would be better if the weight limitation can be more related with the actual combat while keeping the char's attribute matters more.
- Let's say, the combat related weight limitation, make it twice of a char's Strength.
For example, Wyll can carry 18 unit of weight(personal belonging and all equipped gears), while Lae'zel can carry 34. So, letting Wyll wearing a Medium Armor could be potentially encumbrance him if you also give him a metal shield, metal boots and metal gloves. But Lae'zel will have no trouble wearing full heavy armor while wielding greatsword.
- As for the baggage train's weight limitation, let every character in the party contributes an amount of 50.
With this setup, the role-play experience will be enhanced by a great deal, besides the greater conveniency.
And for this setup to work even better, following changes can be done as well:
1- Restricted Camp access, and no more "Send to Camp". Make the only camp access to be the Long Rest. And only sent items to camp during the Long Rest.
2- Make the special container in the camp into a special trader-like object, so when click it can have a larger interface to display what's inside and allow filt. And add an "Send all" button for this special container to take all items from the Party Shared Baggage Train.
3- Make all traders in the game not to respawn their merchandise, unless a related worldly event was progressed.
