I was searching for others sharing the same question but couldn't find anything. I created (first time) a Gith PC. Isn't it weird that as a Gith has absolutely no clue what a tadpole , a mindflayer and a freaking creche is? I'm talking to Lae'zel and it feemls like im any other race but Githyanki! Hells she isnt even surprised or question me... when i know jackshit about all these things which should be standard knowledge for Gith... As if i was born out of thin air in faerun and a Creche, Mindflayers and their tadpoles are such mindblowing things to my character. It weirds me out and doesnt help with immersion at all.
Yes. It’s a classic RPG problem where occasional unique dialogue options won’t be enough to cover for races that dramatically differ from status quo. I somewhat hope that if one picks Laez origin it will feel more coherent.

That's ..wow, that's just really bad. I wasn't expecting a completely different experience, but flat out pretending you aren't the race you are is just bizarre. Mods/DLC/extra races after release is one thing, but on a vanilla race? That looks really bad.
For us to have multiple option (the PC gith) is fine. You can roleplay i dunno, like being stolen as an egg and growing up away from Githyanki culture. But the actual indoctrinated Githyanki should come up with better dialogue. either straight up be super sus about us being the way we are... are we a githyanki? maybe we are a githzerai... she should be way harsher towards a githyanki that doesnt recognize/understand any githyanki tradition and basic knowledge than other races... from my PC dialogue options not recognizing that laezel looks exactly like me... is weird. did i grow up in a place with no mirrors? mirrors dont exist from where i came from? neither water? have i ever seen my own reflection? why do i think laezel looks alien to me and i to her? then some dialogue from Lae'zels part, especially like the "fleshy nose" one and the "you are as much alien to me as i am to you" were... awful.
Playing a Gith right now feels very off IMO. Particularly with Lae'zel in the party the way npcs react strongly to her and hardly at all to you. Shadowheart in particular very quickly seems to forget about you being a gith and laser focuses on Lae'zel for no particular reason instead. I was hoping that it would have a level of reactivity on par with drow, but it doesn't seem to be quite there (yet, hopefully there is more to it in the full release). Seems to me the best way to play Gith in the full game is going to be to play as Lae'zel instead of a custom pc.
You have probably messed up your tags somehow with mods, or the last patch messed Gith racial tags. I do not have the game installed currently so I cannot check. This dialogue was tailored for a Gith last I played one. You can see it working fine on videos on youtube as well.
When I was playing a Gith , I had the option to know most of the stuff. The clueless options where still there too, probably for new player, but I never felt, as if my Gith is clueless about her heritage. Maybe a mod interfering?
"We are all stories in the end. Just make it a good one."
I must join the choir and say that when I played as Gith couple patches ago, it definitely didn’t feel genuine, but it wasn’t THAT bad.
As to the point that inappropriate lines still appear, but there are Gith-specific lines as well - I will have to call it on ideological basis as poor/sloppy design. It is a roleplaying game, we define characters and what our character can do/say should be defined by our input. Of course the most efficient thing to do, is to choose playable races a lot of commonality with minor variations on top, but if devs decide to add races that theoretically provide very different play experience and have very different relationship with the world, that is the decision devs made and it is their failure if they aren’t able to provide such experience.
When players pick Gith, they probably don’t do so for a generic elf experience. My playthrough as Gith was no different than any other playthrough. If Gith is too big of a variable to cover for, than it shouldn’t have been an option as a race. As I said, I hope that Gith origin fares better.

As an example:
dang, the only mod im using atm is the basketequipmentSFW one
I clearly remember that when i asked Lae'zel about purification as a Gith, she acused me for ignorance. o_O
Also i like that we have option to ask those questions even as a Gith ... For one, its helpfull for new players ... and for two, i think its fine to have option to play clueless Gith, for whatever reason.
That part when your Gith, or Lae'zel didnt know what neither of you are ... seems indeed like a bug.

I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are!

That mod shouldn't break the dialogue, I use it too. Maybe it got messed up with the new patch. My Gith playthrough was with patch 7.

Some people gave screenshots and vids(both here and in BG3 subreddit) and said it could be a mod conflicting with the game resulting in it getting bugged.
The mods i use are tashas hair mods and armor/weaps mods.
Removed the mods, deleted the whole campaign.
Started a new one, same dialogues, nothing fixed.
Last resort i had before uninstalling and re-installing was verifying the integrity of game files.
Did it, started a game and finally the Githyanki options where there.
Deleted that campaign again, re-added the mods , went back to start anew and everything seems to be fine. Still dont know what the conflict was , but its working as it was intended now.
I downloaded DA: II once to play an add on through origins... All weapon names + voice acting disappeared because it got switched to Russian* in the files. But of course, the Russian voice file was empty 🙃
Apparently I wasn't the first, nor fifth person to have this problem. The fix was pretty similar. Just grabbing the correct files and moving them to where they were supposed to be in the first place. No deleting game needed.
*Can't remember, I think it was Russian.
My Arishok fight was bugged, too. Locking me out of the ending I tried for. Weapon names never returned because I only fixed audio. I've not had these problems with non origin games before. I'm never buying from them again.
I think, your game was messed up since download. You couldn't notice due to not playing githyanki. The file supposed to contain githyanki tag releated dialogue, got a copy of human or some other race.

Strange bug, glad to see it fixed.
Was definitely a bit strange and frustrating for me to see a big discussion on reddit over your thread with a massive amount of comments where everyone is acting as if the lack of Gith dialog and reactivity was normal. Guess it goes to show how few have played through EA as a Gith character. Willing to bet there are many people now who will continue thinking this is the case.
