For future reference, it’s generally better to create a new thread with a relevant title rather than necro an old one on a different topic. Though if it’s the same topic, then yes it is better to carry on the previous discussion rather than start a new one

That said, BG3 early access does have a couple of pets you can persuade to your camp, and I’m assuming this will also be the case for the full release.
If you want a pet to follow you round and help on your adventure, you can choose a class that is able to summon a familiar or animal companion, such as wizard, warlock or ranger.
