Usually new trailers have some new info even if they are meant to attract new players! 😊 Yes, agreed! We could easily see some trailer content that indicates additional classes, races, companions or even changed mechanics. I just meant I wouldn’t expect a detailed breakdown of class and race options in that forum (which like Lotus Noctus is something I very much want pre release so I can plan my custom characters) or explanations of any new or changed mechanics beyond what we can infer from glimpsing them in passing. I like Lyelle’s suggestion that we might get a glimpse of a monk and/or Dragonborn or Half-Orc PC. That’s something to hope for! I think there was what looked like a Half-Orc in the background of one of the scenes in the last trailer, so that’s a start . And yes, another AMA would be fab.

It would also be great if they did another AMA now that they know what will be in the game! I'd love that!

Once again, I wouldn't really expect anything targeted to (or particularly interesting for) any player who has already extensive familiarity with EA. It will probably be another trailer aimed mostly to the casual audience barely aware the game exists.

Yeah, we already knew that Karlach and Minsc were coming (if you paid attention to the data mining) and Helia seems to have been replaced by Jaheira, which I’m cool with. Man, if it's true that Jaheira is coming in as a replacement for Helia I'd be massively disappointed. "A bard werewolf halfling" sounded a lot more interesting than "Here's that companion you never actually liked from the old game, AGAIN".

It introduced the plot and the characters while simultaneously show new places, new features (level 5 spells, kobolds, half orc, owlbear wildshape, new body shapes...). It is a trailer, of course they wont show a patch note or a spreadsheet of stats.

Man, if it's true that Jaheira is coming in as a replacement for Helia I'd be massively disappointed. Me too. People assume that lack of datamining means she was scrapped, and not that Larian got more thorough with what they include in their EA builds.

Helia got scrapped because of the possibly awkward sex scenes

I wonder ... There is many speculation about Helia being scrapped ... what they are based on?

basically that she stopped getting updates in patches from what I gathered from the datamining threads/vids etc. We know her story role got filled by a certain archdruid, and now we are getting Jaheria in the 'druid slot'. I suppose a halfling companion could still be possible, but I think it would be pretty different than what original indicators pointed towards.
Hell, Minthara has gotten stronger indicators these last couple of patches as a possible companion. It just seems likely that Helia ended up on the cutting-room floor like the other origins/companions that were indicated in the very first datamines.

I was under impression that Helia was suspected to be a bard - that said I never followed datamines closely, so I might be completely off.
The question I would ask, is if it is not Helia than what other origins other than Karlach can we expect in 1.0?

I forgot that. She was also a gnome at one point IIRC. So they seem to have been playing around with her for a while. My guess is that they couldn't quite get a solid idea for the character to stick, and that she was scrapped as a result. My speculation, of course.
Origins? Honestly I wouldn't be too surprised if wee didn't get any more. Between Minsc and Helia (probably) being scrapped as origins, I wouldn't be too shocked if Karlach was as well. Honestly if she was the only origin character left to be added, I would have expected Larian to put her in EA by now. The fact that Larian is hyping non-origins party members before her is mildly concerning. She has had almost zero exposure compared to everyone else. Surely they could put some art containing her up for the Loading screens, at least?

Dunno ... I remember that back then Chubblot said on Twitter that Larian started to clean their stuff much better, so datamining was quite uneasy. Maybe Helia was never scrapped, just hidden.

Optimistically, yeah that would be the case. I was never sold on the werewolf idea, but a halfling/gnome bard/druid would be a pretty cool addition to the party. Pessimistically though, I would have expected at least something more to have shown up in the last few patches. Minsc, Karlacch and Jaheria at least got that (although we didn't know the latter of those three was a party member until the announcement)
Of note, she'd be the only origin character/party member we know about that *didn't* get a mtg card when that cross-promotion thing was going on.

Larian has been very tight-lipped, and as I didn't follow D:OS1&2 releases I don't know how usual or unusual it is. In my view the game awards trailer clearly played into it being a Baldur's Gate game - two classic companions revealed plus titular city, some classic spells and monsters. They even teased CGI Minsc before the show. I don't think it was a good place to reveal a new companion.
