I’m curious about Alan Wake 2. I never played the original and have only a rough understanding about the type of game it is. Survival horror isn’t normally my cup of tea as they often tend to be kind of gross in a way I find very off putting, but AW2 doesn’t seem like it’s that sort of game, so I’m going to follow it and see if it’s something more my speed.
Have you played Control?
I am really more into it for Control since AW1 and 2 are AWE's (Altered World Events).
Nah. I skipped around watching bits of some let’s plays and mechanically it looks like a fairly standard third person shooter with some light traversal and platforming, even if sometimes instead of shooting you are grav-throwing utility cases and fax machines at your enemies. Not really my thing. Shooters in general don’t appeal to me.
First thing I'm doing when I boot my computer for the event : looking at Larian's official forum to find the link where I'll be able to see their new stuff. And there's not even a single thread giving the link I'm looking for.
At least nothing really easy to find ! Then I went to their twitter... and nothing more.

If you or anybody else still need it, here is a Google URL:
Looks like another route to join the baddies. Gortash is a Baldurian. I wonder about those mechanical soldiers too, wasn't something like that a plot point in the Waterdeep module? There was also the half-machine villain from the last trailer, I wonder if he's involved.
Oh man full mecha Sorry to be dissapointed. Over the top once again.
Yeah - what are Steelwatchers? Gortash is a commander of them, in Baldur's Gate? Under the Flaming Fist but he is secretly working with the Absolute Forces?

Story is intriguing but really... a mecha army is definitely not something I expected or hoped for .. Really hope it's somekind of personnal guards and we won't see / fight them at every corner.
Really don't understand why they always have to go in "unusual" things like this.
Hopefully the Artificer class then? Anyway, this Steelwatcher army spontaneously reminds me of GW2, when Queen Jennah converted remnants of Scarlet's puppet army into defenders for Divinity's Reach after Scarlet was defeated. Well, I think against Demons and Mind Flayers you quite need a more robust defense than fragile humans, and there it is.
I feel like they are not showing the game from the best perspective. While impressive that they exist in an RPG from that scale, cinematics hardly look good especially among the posh Game Fest crowd.
And are actors behind the characters THE thing Larian is so proud of, as to dedicate two major showcases to their reveal? And there is still one more coming.
Hopefully PC Gaming show will have something more indepth.
The party was already in Baldur's Gate, yet I'm seeing the same old boring basic robes on Tav and Gale. And SH in her same old starting armor. Where's the variety? Don't they want to show a fresh look or does it simply not exist?
I don't get why we need to be introduced to a character we haven't met in EA, who is revealed to be a "secret" villain, before we can experience his treachery first hand in game. Now when we meet him it will be like "oh this is the Flaming Fist mech guy who is secretly working with the Absolute". Why spoil stuff?
I would've much rather seen new races, classes, armor, spells etc. than get story spoilers because Jason Isaacs. Or new companions who are a much bigger deal than some Gortash without being story spoilers.

On one hand I agree with you, on the other hand - BG1 began with Sarevok being naughty ...
Also - how many EA players are there? And how many of these players will watch that snippet? How many of the non-EA playing public who will buy the final game would had watched that snippet? The spoiler might be irrelevant in the greater order of things ... Just theorising
Yeah, I don’t think this is the best way to present the game. A villain I’ve never heard of is not going to excite me, and I’m already on board. I’d much rather see Half-orcs and monks, or get a better look at the city.
Mecha didn’t surprise me though. There are already mech soldiers in the Underdark, so seeing more of them just made sense.
Yeah, agreed. I think he could end up being a really fun villain, but these are genuine spoilers at this point and this is currently their main marketting tactic at this point. The game is three months away and the thing they put out at the major gaming showcase is a big ol' spoiler. I suppose it could be that we actually get told who the three generals are earlier on so we know from the minute we see him that he's no good. That'd sort of justify it, but I still really don't think it's the best way to build hype for anyone who hasn't heard of the game, and that's who I'dimagine you're trying to reach at a thing like this. At least with the Kethric one, they also showed off jaheira and minsc, I think, as well as the release date. This though? Not much to hype up new folks.
