Could we get Artificer class? Sure.. maybe.. but i wouldnt hold my breath.
From a marketing point of view...well they dont need to spend money and time to market to me..ive already bought the game. I would prefer time and money spent on making the best game possible.
Now marketing to potential..undecided.. buyers. Makes sense. But some of those potential buyers are waiting for reviews..so again the best game possible is the best investment.
And lets see more of the beautiful city on the 11th (and feel free to throw in some monk mocap?)

The trailer was quite disappointing for me as well. I don't particularly appreciate having all the game's enemies spoiled for me. I would love to see new gameplay, glimpses of new environments, and some killing animations (which are currently almost entirely absent). Let's be clear: the new villain doesn't seem bad as presented. Although I'm not particularly fond of these steel constructs either. Firstly, I don't like fighting inanimate objects; I prefer characters with at least a rough narrative background, like the various assassins sent in the earlier chapters of BG. Additionally, aesthetically, they seem excessively ornate, which is not very plausible if the goal is to create an army rather than a work of art.

If we are getting a stronghold in the city, it would be great to see it at the PC Gaming Show!

I also have no desire to fight too many constructs. On the other hand, he is asking us to side with him. And the fact that Ketheric has an army of Undead that is also immune to Mind Flayers. What if he also asks us to side with him. What if we could ally with one of those factions to fight the Mind Flayers, then their armies would be really helpful, I think.

There's just no pleasing some people.
Or in the case of the official forums, any people.
Was this a great trailer? No, certainly not. But to call the game shaping up to be a train wreck is hilarious. There's so much about this game that's unknown that these teases can hardly be considered spoilers. Having fantastic voice actors join the game is a huge plus for me. Go watch the FF7 Rebirth trailer and tell me voice acting doesn't make a difference.
The game will more than likely be upwards of 100+ hours long. Hell, early access is easily 40+ if you do absolutely everything and don't skip dialogue. Additional stuff will be added as well. These small teases are just enough to whet the appetite. I don't need or want to know everything about the game before it comes out. Look at FF16. There's so many previews available for that game that it actually takes hype away.
I haven't posted in these forums in ages, mostly since there's so much overwhelming negativity from some people it borders on toxic behavior.
Personally I haven't been more excited for a game release in quite some time. Looking forward to 8/31/23 (well, 8/28/23) more than anything.

All views, whether positive or negative, are welcome here, as long as they're expressed in accordance with forum rules. Posting the same negative comments over and over again in different threads regardless of relevance, and without any constructive suggestions of what we'd like to see instead, is what I'd call toxic negativity and if taken too far would result in moderator action, but having a negative response to the latest trailer does not qualify.
The only possible antidote to negative feedback is positive feedback, not criticising the folk who have been negative or indeed the whole forum community. Let's not go there! Anyone with specific concerns on that front is welcome to contact me directly to make suggestions for improvements.
"You may call it 'nonsense' if you like, but I've heard nonsense, compared with which that would be as sensible as a dictionary!"

The forum isn’t actually as consistently negative as it was a few years ago, otherwise I wouldn’t be back. So there is that at least.

I think, if you'd like to see same reaction as yours to every event, then buy a mirror.
The way I see it, while the trailer and general marketing strategy was not well thought out, the game is still amazing. I've spent a thousand hours in it already and can't wait for release. I appreciate the looks of Gortash as well, except for his clothing. Feels too out of place in a seemingly colorful city of Baldurs Gate, unless this is an intentional contrast.

I'm not there yet though, but I still know with mods I'll easily get my money's worth barring some ridiculous story points. Also, I had to laugh at your mention of the FFVII Rebirth trailer. Oh man, that voice acting was painful lol. "wow. the earth. is fighting. despite all we have done." I will say, having professional actors as voices is a good thing for sure.

The general reception to Remake is that the voice work was great. I certainly didn’t bump into that line in the Rebirth trailer. It’s a fantasy setting where the planet is a literal living entity and Aerith isn’t human. She is so relentlessly positive that she has a magic aura that calms people’s emotions and makes flowers and plants bloom around her. That’s how she sounds. 🤷🏻♂️

Gortash's outfit gives me pause.
I feel like he's dressed less as a noble lord of the city and more as an edgy batman villain. But it's too early for me to say what I'll think about his character.

Cheap shot. Like the Cheapo Mercenary's punch to the mug of the Tiefling SmallBoss in Druid Grove.

I like his outfit, but I agree that his stubble and hair does give me pause. I thinkthey were going for a "harried/absent-minded inventor" type of vibe with him, but that doesn't really mesh with how he's being presented as this smooth-talking mover and shaker.

Basically he is Sam Bankman-Fried but actually a genius criminal instead of a pretend genius criminal.

He reminds me of David Bowie's Goblin King, honestly. I like the look, even if it screams 'should not be relied upon to provide security for your city'.
Anyways, I assume the voice work will be stellar. But we have had Larian choosing to showcase *three* big-name voice actors pretty much in succession. Meanwhile I look at that trailer, a month and a half from release and see stuff like that Larian still hasn't figured out how to have hats and hair interact on a level better than NWN2. What I *don't* see is any more news about stuff like companions and origin characters, or playable half orcs or monks etc.
So I'm starting to wonder how much of Larian's budget was spent chasing down celebrities to VA in their game, and how much the final product will be affected. I *Know* Larian can write a damn fine game, but they have been giving ample reason to worry at this point in development. I honestly can not be sure this game is going to be a masterpiece or an unfinished overambitious janky product that bit off more than it can chew. When we reach BG is it going to stand alongside Athkatla in how lovingly handcrafted it is or will it be Arx 2.0? I don't get much feeling of what Larian's Baldur's Gate is going to be like from these teasers.

As for the third sub-boss, I would be delighted if she is ... a shadar-kai... soul monger

I don't get much feeling of what Larian's Baldur's Gate is going to be like from these teasers. I am less concerned with this. Having someone like Matt Mercer, whose job is a voice actor and actually knows the games and cares deeply about them is a huge plus if anything. He's as big as your Nolan North's or Troy Baker's. While it's not a "selling point" for me, I think it goes to show how much care went into casting. An integral part of any game that is trying to be taken seriously. As far as JK Simmons and Jason Isaacs, neither of them are strangers to voice acting and while I'm sure all 3 command a higher salary than several others, I doubt half the budget is going to them. Let's not forget, Larian is probably not funding this entirely by themselves. There was undoubtedly money from Google that was received, as well as milestones from Hasbro/WotC to consider, between that an the millions of copies of EA that have been sold, I'd say they probably know what they are doing. While we can't say for certainty that the game won't be perfect at launch (what game is?) It will certainly be highly polished. Larian supported DOS2 for years. And provided tons of free content for, and reworked the entire last act, something they did not need to do. Everything they have done and learned has lead to this point. I don't think WotC would have given the license out otherwise. I could not imagine Beamdog or one of the many other devs that inquired about this IP handling it. I hope this game does gangbusters numbers, Larian makes all their money back and then some and continues to support the franchise for many years. Hell, if they aren't planning an expansion, I'd be shocked.

tell me voice acting doesn't make a difference. It probably doesn't for most people that don't understand english very well and for which EN speaking actors real voices (>< voice dubber) is totally unknown.
